Princess Diana's royal chef reveals her 'super healthy' breakfast favourite now adored by celebrities
Princess Diana was ahead of her time!
Princess Diana’s favourite breakfast is now a hit with social media influencers and celebs!
The royal chef who served the People’s Princess has lifted the lid one exactly what she ate for breakfast…

Princess Diana’s ‘favourite’ breakfast
The late Princess of Wales was known to have an interest in wellness, favouring holistic therapies like aromatherapy and acupuncture.
So, it is unsurprising that she also enjoyed a variety of “super healthy” foods. Especially her favourite breakfast, which she was said to have discovered in the 90s.
Princess Diana reportedly began eating overnight oats after discovering them on a trip to Switzerland in the 1990s.
Chatting on his Youtube channel, former royal chef Darren McGrady explained the simple but nutritious meal was one she ate “everyday” or on “most mornings” at Kensington Palace.
He detailed that the morning staple is “healthy and packed with protein and nutrients”.
Not to mention, it is also beloved by celebs and influencers.
Princess Diana’s ‘favourite’ dish loved by celebs
Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Joe Wicks and Victoria Beckham are all said to be big fans of the wholesome meal.
Overnight oats requires no cooking and can be easily whipped up the night before you are ready to eat it.
To make, simply prepare oatmeal by soaking it in liquids like milk, water or juice.
Overnight, the oats absorb the moisture from the liquids and become thicker and therefore more filling. The liquids can even be replaced by yoghurt.
Many lovers of the dish then add fruits, seeds, nuts or preserves after taking them out of the refrigerator.
Reports detail how nutritionists have labelled it one of the healthiest breakfasts out there and it is even said to lessen the risk of diabetes, obesity and cholesterol.
Royal chef’s special recipe explained
In Darren’s recipe he explained that he included blueberries and fresh walnuts in Diana’s morning meal.
In the Youtube clip, he explained that Princess Diana was “looking the best she ever did” during the days she enjoyed overnight oats – as well as other healthy meals.
“She was now eating healthy – her go-to breakfast was something called overnight oats,” Darren recalled.
He went on to say: “Now today overnight oats is popular. Everybody is eating them but they date back to 2012.
“That’s when you couldn’t go on social media without seeing a recipe for overnight oats. But Princess Diana was eating overnight oats almost 20 years earlier in 1993.”

Diana’s wholesome morning staple
Darren detailed how Diana came across the wholesome dish.
“They were actually called bircher muesli and they were invented by a Swiss nutritionist who thought they were really, really good and all the ingredients were super, super healthy.”
Darren’s special recipe for Diana used rolled oats soaked in fresh orange juice and was mixed with yoghurt, raw honey, half a grated honey crisp apple, the juice of one lemon, one cup of fresh blueberries and half a cup of toasted walnuts.
Darren then garnished the dish with even more walnuts and blueberries. Yum!
Diana’s delicious morning treat were first thought up by Dr Maximilian Oskar Bircher-Benner around the 20th century.
