Kate Middleton caught patting Prince William’s bum in flirty PDA moment

The royal family has to follow quite a strict list of rules. While it may not be set protocol, it’s believed royals purposefully don’t show any moments of PDA.
There have been a few times that some of the royals held hands or looked close. Usually, over the years, these little moments were shared between Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, before they stepped away from their royal duties. But in a moment caught on video, Kate, 43, could be seen doing quite a risky bit of PDA…
Kate Middleton pats Prince William’s bum at BAFTAs
In a video that has been circulating on social media, Kate and William made an appearance at the 2023 BAFTAs.
The royal couple can be seen walking down the red carpet, laughing together. But that’s when Kate decided to show Prince William a rare PDA moment.
As he leaned over to hear what she was saying, Kate whispered something to William and then patted his bum. The pair clearly weren’t worried by the cameras as they were both smiling ear-to-ear.
However, the crowd seemed to be slightly shocked by the rare touchy moment, as gasps can be heard in the background.
Taking to X, one fan shared the video, writing: “Flashback to that time when Princess Kate was caught giving Princess William a playful royal pat! Love a bit of PDA from our fave royals.”
One fan gushed: “She looks DIVINE.”
Another added: “I love how the world loves and adores her. I’m in awe when I see our future king and queen. So gorgeous!”
The video was also shared on TikTok, and a lot of royal fans were loving the extra PDA.
A fan commented: “She was making sure everyone knew he is hers. I love them.”
“Kate Middleton is a true star,” another added.
Kate and William have been showing more PDA lately
While this particular video is from two years ago, recently Kate and William have been allowing themselves to be more open with their PDA. And it comes as they appear closer than ever amid Kate’s cancer recovery.
Kate was diagnosed with cancer last year and took quite some time out of the spotlight to focus on her recovery. Slowly, she began to ease herself into working life again when she announced she was in remission in January 2025.
But then, when she and William have been on royal outings, they have seemed closer than usual. They have been spotted holding hands and walking quite closely, giving each other little touches every so often. And that’s very rare for them.
A source told Vanity Fair back in April that her cancer diagnosis “changed her and it changed William”.
The outlet reported: “It’s very clear that William is deeply in love with his wife, more than ever. And she is eternally grateful to him for the support he has given her in the past year. And how he has been with the children. He has shouldered a lot.”
We just adore these two.
