Queen Camilla has sparked some controversy after being photographed enjoying a luxury holiday in Greece aboard a superyacht owned by billionaire Tory donor Wafic Said, without King Charles by her side.

The 78-year-old royal was seen relaxing on Said’s lavish vessel, Zenobia, while reportedly visiting some of Greece’s most exclusive tourist hotspots.

In photos obtained by The Mirror, Camilla donned a flowy pink dress and dark sunglasses as she enjoyed the views from the upper deck.

However, critics say accepting hospitality from a politically influential figure raises questions about the royal family’s commitment to neutrality.

The royal family usually remains strictly apolitical, with public trust in the monarchy partly built on its political neutrality.

Many have questioned whether the trip sends the wrong message, particularly during a cost-of-living crisis.

Former Lib Dem minister Norman Baker, author of Royal Mint, National Debt, told The Mirror’s Royal Editor Russell Myers: “Members of the royal family really ought to consider the public perception of such episodes, whether they are on holiday or official business.

It is natural for me to offer my boat to close friends when I am not using it.

“They are representing the country at all times. Let’s be honest, it’s not as if they are short of cash. This is not a good look for Camilla. Epecially when the relationships between the royals and their associates are rightly called into question.”

King Charles was absent from the trip, having been in Scotland. According to the Mirror, Wafic Said himself was also not on board during Camilla’s stay.

Meanwhile, Mr Said, who reportedly has a £1.9billion fortune, has since defended offering the yacht to Camilla.

“The Parker-Bowles family have been close friends of mine for over 40 years,” he told the publication. “Tom Parker-Bowles was at school with my son, and Tom and Laura are like children to me. It is natural for me to offer my boat to close friends when I am not using it. I was therefore pleased to offer it to the family and glad to learn she is enjoying time with her children and grandchildren.”

The 57-metre-long Zenobia was named after a third-century Syrian queen. It features six luxury cabins for 12 guests, room for a crew of 13, a cinema and library room, and outdoor dining decks.

Camilla’s holiday comes just days before she is due to appear alongside King Charles for the 80th anniversary of VJ Day on August 15.

The couple will lead national commemorations at the National Memorial Arboretum, where the king is expected to deliver a speech. Surprisingly, Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, are not currently scheduled to attend the event.
