Prince Harry told 'stop being the victim' by Queen Elizabeth II's former aide
Duke of Sussex warned to "start writing his own script"
Prince Harry has been urged to “be a hero rather than a victim” by a former aide to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Ailsa Anderson was press secretary for the UK’s longest-ever reigning monarch between 2001 and 2013. With unique access to the late monarch during those years, Ms Anderson has previously revealed how she was both modest and “unwaveringly kind”.
Furthermore, she has also indicated she worked alongside Prince Harry at that time, before he met Meghan Markle, in a “close” capacity.
But as she appeared in a recent Channel 5 programme concerning the life and times of Prince Harry in 2025, Ms Anderson suggested royal supporters may have tired of hearing about the Duke of Sussex’s perceived struggles.

Giving her takes on royal family matters in Prince Harry: My Terrible Year, which aired on August 9, Ms Anderson stressed how highly she regards King Charles’ second son.
She said: “My experience with Prince Harry has only been positive. He’s very warm, he’s very engaging. He’s very kind. So only fond memories of him, truly.”
However, she almost seemed to sound a note of caution as she continued: “I think, potentially, it is almost like a crossroads now for Prince Harry. What does he do next?”

Reflecting on how Prince Harry and his wife can be pilloried in the press, Ms Anderson also highlighted how the Sussexes’ being slammed as “disaster tourists” at the start of the year was particularly “harsh”.
“I think they went to visit the victims of the wildfires with the right intentions,” Ms Anderson insisted.
She went on: “But I think their reputation at the moment, both in the UK and globally, is so low that anything they do, even if it is for the right reasons, are getting the wrong results. And I’m sure they didn’t expect that kind of reaction to their visit.”

Harry urged to ‘stop being the victim’
However, Ms Anderson also made it clear how, in her opinion, Prince Harry needs to stop making out his life is “awful”.
She said: “Stop being the victim and start being the hero of the piece, start writing your own script. I think people are just getting a little bit tired of how Prince Harry thinks the world is against him and how awful his life is.”

Ms Anderson also claimed Prince Harry is “too impulsive” and shouldn’t have opened up about family matters in public.

“I think trust is paramount in every walk of life, if you can’t trust your family, who can you trust?” she added.
