Fans shared their messages for the Princess Royal's milestone birthday
Royal supporters have hailed Princess Anne as “elegant” and a credit to her family as a photo marking her 75th birthday was unveiled.
The Princess Royal enjoyed her milestone birthday on Friday (August 15). And it is clear King Charles’ sister‘s tireless work when it comes to engagements means she remains a firm favourite with fans.
But the stunning image taken by John Swannell shared on social media isn’t the only online tribute to her. Footage of her earliest days has also been distributed, revealing tender moments between the young prince who went on to be monarch and his infant sister.
Princess Anne birthday photo revealed
Wearing an amused expression and a royal blue dress with a bright white collar and white buttoned central trim, Princess Anne looks every inch the dignified but modern royal in her birthday photo.
She looks relaxed but immaculate in the image, believed to have been taken at her home at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire last month, as she stands with one hand trailing on a windowsill behind her.
You can see the picture here. The palace also released another snap of Anne beaming in a red dress. The caption read: “75 today! Thank you for all of your kind birthday wishes for The Princess this week.”
Public celebrations are not expected for Princess Anne’s big day. Instead, she chose to have as many good causes present for a special gathering at Buckingham Palace in June.
Furthermore, according to reports, she is thought to be spending her birthday with her husband Sir Tim Laurence sailing around the Western Isles of Scotland.
How fans reacted to Anne’s birthday portrait
Princess Anne is unlikely to make any appearance on social media in real time herself for her birthday. But well wishers were bowled over by the shot. They also expressed how impressive they find her, with some fans declaring her “the best”.
Among the scores of birthday wishes and positive comments written on the Instagram upload, her industrious nature was also praised.
“Happy birthday to our most beautiful and hardworking Princess!” one fan lauded her.
Another grateful supporter chimed in with: “We are so lucky to have Princess Anne.”

“The Princess Royal is a jewel,” gushed another admirer.
“Elegant. Classy. Beautiful. Smart. Brave. She’s the best,” asserted another.
Someone else shared their assessment: “Hardest working royal, she’s a credit to their institution. Gorgeous photo too.”
Meanwhile, someone else complimented her appearance in the pic: “Very classy and regal!”

Childhood video of King Charles and Anne
Meanwhile, fans were reminded once again of the close relationship between the monarch and his sibling nearest him in age.
Another Insta post contained footage from the British Film Institute of Princess Anne when she was younger, touching observers. And it also revealed how the king doted on his little sister in the days after she was born, as well as many other precious and personal family moments.
At one point, the then-Prince Charles, only just over 18 months old himself, is seen being carried over by his father Prince Philip to inspect baby Anne as she is held by their mother, still a princess herself.

Charles and Anne’s grandfather King George VI and his wife – who would become known as The Queen Mother – are also seen playing with the newborn, all those years ago.
