Correspondent claims Meghan "comeback" was 'wrecked'
Meghan Markle has given her approval to the news Taylor Swift is engaged amid accusations the Duchess of Sussex has been ‘overshadowed’ by the pop singer.
Taylor, 35, confirmed NFL player Travis Kelce had got down on one knee on social media yesterday (Tuesday, August 27). She shared a post on Instagram containing a carousel of snaps of the couple’s special moment in a rose garden.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the music megastar told her fans in the post’s caption. Under 24 hours on from the post being uploaded, nearly 30 million users have given it a ‘Like’. And among that vast number of well-wishers is Meghan Markle – as well as other royals.
Royals react to Taylor Swift engagement
Reports indicate that the Insta handle for the Prince and Princess of Wales was spotted among those who gave the post the double tap endorsement treatment.
Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte memorably posed for a selfie with Shake It Off star Taylor and her beau as the Waleses attended an Eras Tour show date in London in the summer of 2024.
The royal dad and daughter were also seen busting moves and making shapes during the same gig.
Additionally, Prince William and Taylor even shared a stage themselves back in 2013. They sang Livin’ On A Prayer with Jon Bon Jovi during a charity event at Kensington Palace.
Meanwhile, Meghan is also said to have been seen listed among the millions and millions of ‘Likes’ on Taylor’s Insta post.
But, according to reports citing a Substack page, Meghan may have felt her “comeback” was affected when Taylor recently shared news about The Life of a Showgirl earlier this month.

Allegations concerning Meghan Markle and Taylor Swift
A couple of weeks ago, the first teaser trailer for the second season of With Love, Meghan dropped online.
The same day – Tuesday, August 12 – Taylor revealed the news concerning the released of her 12th studio album on Travis’ New Heights podcast.
The world’s media later seized on claims by gossip columnist Rob Shuter that made out Meghan’s nose had been put out of joint by The Life of a Showgirl reveal.
He is reported to have alleged, quoting a unidentified source: “Meghan thought her trailer would own the news cycle.”
Taylor’s announcement came in like a wrecking ball.
Mr Shuter went on to claim the anonymous insider added: “Then Taylor’s announcement came in like a wrecking ball. Meghan’s convinced it wasn’t just bad luck.”

The correspondent also alleged in his blog post: “She saw this as her comeback moment. Then Taylor took all the oxygen out of the room.”
The second season of With Love, Meghan – consisting of eight episodes – is available to stream on Netflix now.
