Prince Harry announces UK return for WellChild Awards after his reconciliation plea to King Charles
It aligns with the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's deathPrince Harry is set for a huge return to the UK for the WellChild Awards, just a few months after his public appeal to King Charles.
It has been announced that Prince Harry will be making a trip to London in just a couple of weeks. But he will come alone, as his wife, Meghan Markle, is expected to remain in Montecito with their children.
The announcement comes after Prince Harry made a public plea to reconcile with his dad, King Charles, in a bombshell BBC interview in May. And the event also aligns with the anniversary of the death of Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince Harry set to return to UK for WellChild Awards
The Duke of Sussex will return to the UK for the 2025 WellChild Awards, in association with GSK. The event will take place on September 8 – the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death.
WellChild announced the news on social media this morning. The event aims to honour inspirational achievements of seriously ill children.
WellChild quoted Prince Harry on their announcement. The prince said: “I am always privileged to attend the WellChild Awards and meet the incredible children, families and professionals who inspire us with their strength and spirit.
“For 20 years these awards have highlighted the courage of young people living with complex health needs. And it has shone a light on the devoted caregivers who support them every step of the way.”

What will Harry be doing?
The WellChild Awards are organised by the national charity for seriously ill children.
Prince Harry has been a patron of WellChild for 17 years, so it’s not surprising that he will be attending. Over the years he has helped raise awareness and vital funds to improve the quality of life for ill children.
I am always privileged to attend the WellChild Awards and meet the incredible children, families and professionals who inspire us with their strength and spirit.
On 14 different occasions Prince Harry has attended the UK awards ceremony. And it’s expected that, like usual, he will meet the winners and their family at a pre-ceremony reception.
Then, during the ceremony, Prince Harry will present the award for Inspirational Child. He is also expected to make a speech.

Meghan Markle not expected to attend
While Prince Harry may be making a huge return to the UK, according to GB news‘ royal correspondent Cameron Walker, chances of Meghan coming along are “slim” – especially because of their security argument.
When Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020, they lost their taxpayer-funded high-level security. It’s now decided on a case-by-case basis.
He said: “The chances of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, or his children, coming across with him to London are very slim indeed. Because Prince Harry says he’s happy to put himself in a little bit of danger. But not his wife and his kids.”
However, he also added that the security issue could be “convenient” for Meghan to use “as an excuse”.
But Prince Harry attending alone comes after he reached out to his family via his BBC interview.
In the interview, he admitted he would “love reconciliation” with his family. He also explained he doesn’t “know how much longer” King Charles has amid his cancer treatment.
