The two brothers are still said to not see eye to eye

As Prince Harry is expected to touch down in the UK next month, we are reflecting on the last time he crossed paths with Prince William.

This time last year, the two brothers were brought together to pay their respects at the funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, who died at the age of 82 in July 2024.

However, it seems that their shared loss wasn’t enough to unite them.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s ‘reunion’

Ahead of Harry’s attendance, reports suggested that he would not fly to the UK for his uncle’s funeral because of security concerns.

Despite losing out on a legal battle that would impact his royal protection in the UK, Harry did indeed attend.

He also made a visit to his mother’s family estate, Althorp House. It was here that he stayed with his uncle, Charles Spencer.

William and Harry’s late uncle, Lord Fellowes, entered the Royal Household in 1977 and served as Queen Elizabeth II’s private secretary throughout the 90s.

Lord Fellowes was also the queen’s trusted counsel following the tragic death of Princess Diana, his sister-in-law, who was killed in a car accident in Paris in 1997.

As per MailOnline, The Daily Mail’s Richard Kay described Fellowes as “knowing more secrets about the Royal Family than perhaps anyone else in Britain”.

Lord Fellowes’ funeral

Despite his intrinsic involvement with the royals, it seems the loss of Lord Fellowes only brought William and Harry together fleetingly and they remained distant.

Harry has recently expressed his closeness to his mother’s side of the family. He specially extended a “standout thanks” to Diana’s siblings Jane, Sarah and Earl Spencer in his book, Spare.

Jane was also seen to attend Harry’s Invictus Games anniversary event at St Paul’s Cathedral in 2024. Harry’s brother and father were not in attendance.

Elsewhere, William has continued to support his father, King Charles, and remained close to his royal roots.

The two princes attended Lord Fellowes’ funeral at St. Mary’s Church in the village of Snettisham, Norfolk, where he lived, this time last year.

Prince Harry and Prince William don’t see eye to eye

It has been reported that the two brothers didn’t speak to each other despite being in close contact.

They reportedly stood “back to back” talking to mourners, but didn’t exchange words.

Harry allegedly departed quickly in a black Range Rover.

The Reverend Dan Tansey, the vicar who conducted the service, later told MailOnline that he did not recall Harry and William speaking to each other.

However, he also noted that there were “a lot of family members and friends speaking to them”.

Harry’s trip to the UK for WellChild Awards

Harry is set to return to the UK next month, where he will attend the WellChild Awards.

Earlier this year, Harry spoke out in a bombshell BBC interview where he shared his thoughts about reconciliation with his family members.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry said. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
