A potential meeting between King Charles and his second son, Prince Harry, could reportedly be “make or break”.

In July, reports claimed that aides for both the king, 76, and Harry, 40, had met in London in what was called a “peace summit”. It sparked speculation that a reconciliation between Harry and his family could be on the horizon.

Now, there is more speculation that the pair might come face-to-face as Harry prepares to travel to England for the WellChild Awards on September 8.

Prince Harry to return to the UK for WellChild Awards

This coming Monday (September 8), Prince Harry is due to return to his homeland to make an appearance at the WellChild Awards.

The Duke of Sussex has been a patron of the charity for the past 17 years. The annual event celebrates the achievements of seriously ill children and their families. It will be the 15th time Harry has attended the occasion.

Since it will also coincide with the third anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s death, there has been much speculation over whether Prince Harry will take the opportunity to visit his father, for the first time since February 2024.

In May of this year, Harry spoke to the BBC about wanting a reconciliation with his family. He also claimed that his father wasn’t talking to him.

Will King Charles and Prince Harry meet in the UK?

It hasn’t been confirmed if Charles and Harry will meet whilst the duke is in the UK. However, there is hope they will.

According to a source speaking to US Weekly, Prince Harry is now game for a face-to-face meeting with his father. However, King Charles is apparently more tentative.

If it goes well, it could lead to other family members being open to better relationships.

“Charles does want to meet Harry,” the insider reportedly claimed. “He doesn’t want this falling-out to overshadow his legacy. But Harry has caused chaos and hurt, so it’s complicated.”

Royal historian, Marlene Koenig, appeared to be in agreement, saying: “If there is a meeting, it will be private and more likely to be on the king’s terms rather than Harry’s.”

They went on to emphasise the significance of a potential reunion.

“This meetup is make or break,” the unnamed source continued. “If it goes well, it could lead to other family members being open to better relationships. If things get leaked negatively, then it’s done, and there’s no chance [for peace].”

They concluded that while the chances of a meet up is high, any discussions are likely to be brief and formal at this stage, rather than in-depth.
