Meghan Markle's off-hand comment really didn't help 'secret daughter' argument
She's seemingly fuelled on the conspiracy theorists recentlyAmongst the many rumours that have circulated about the royal family over the years, speculation that Meghan Markle has a secret daughter has got to be one of the wildest.
The conspiracy theory began spreading online in 2024, and it seems some recent comments made by the duchess have only fuelled it further.
Meghan, 44, shares her son, Prince Archie, and daughter, Princess Lilibet, with her husband, Prince Harry.
Does Meghan Markle have a secret daughter?
No, Meghan doesn’t have a secret daughter or son. Meghan of course shares two children with Harry, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
But somewhere along the line, a completely baseless theory began circulating that she had a secret third child that she was hiding from the world.
As alleged by RadarOnline last year, internet detectives suggested that Meghan had a secret child. Some even bizarrely claimed that Meghan’s niece, Noelle Rasmussen, could be her daughter. Noelle is Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle’s daughter.
Meghan is no stranger to conspiracy theories, with some internet sleuths claiming she faked her pregnancies with Archie and Lilibet.
Meghan addresses ‘secret third child’ rumour
Nevertheless, the secret child theory has endured and now even appears to have reached Meghan herself.
By the way, if I could have kept a secret like that… I mean, impressive.
The Duchess of Sussex made a joke about a secret child on the second season of her Netflix show, With Love Meghan.
Speaking to pal Chrissy Teigen during an episode, she made the joke after accidentally calling a Hawthorn flower a “Honsworth”.
“I was like, you have a kid named Honsworth?” responded a baffled Chrissy, to which Meghan played into the speculation, announcing: “My child you’ve never heard of!”
She added: “By the way, if I could have kept a secret like that… I mean, impressive.”
It would be pretty impressive indeed!
The rumour then became a running joke, cropping up again near the end of the episode as Meghan compared wrapping up flowers to wrapping up a baby in a blanket.
“I miss swaddling!” mourned Chrissy, to which Meghan told her: “You can have Honsworth!”
Will Meghan and Harry have another baby?
Earlier this year, Prince Harry opened up about plans for baby number three.
!I think one or two kids is probably enough,” he said in an interview at the Invictus Games, before definitively adding: “I definitely think that.”
He explained: “I know some people who’ve got five. I just say, ‘Well, that’s your own fault!’ Having kids is amazing, but it a journey every single day, every single week. They just grow, and they change.”
