Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle's relationship after Suits and being 'scared' to text her
Patrick has defended Meghan in the pastBefore she became a royal, Meghan Markle was known for her role as Rachel Zane on the US legal drama Suits, as she starred alongside the likes of Patrick J. Adams.
Since quitting the show, her former cast members have spoken about her on various occasions. One actor who has discussed the duchess several times over the past few years is Patrick, who played her on-screen husband, Mike Ross.
Patrick attended Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018. But since then, it seems communication has slowly decreased between them.

Is Meghan Markle still friends with Patrick J. Adams?
Despite playing love interests on the show, Meghan, 44, and Patrick aren’t close behind the scenes anymore.
In an interview with Radio Times back in 2020, Patrick revealed he still had Meghan’s number. However, he admitted he was too “scared” to contact her.
“I have no doubt I could pick up the phone and call her at any moment, but I don’t know what I would say,” he confessed.
“After our children were born, there were some texts sent and gifts sent, but I guess I’m a little scared,” he then continued.
“I think it’s pure fear. I guess I’m scared about the idea of breaking through whatever walls exist to have that conversation.”
Patrick hit back at ‘bullying’ claims
In 2021, it was reported that Meghan had been accused of bullying palace staff.
The news hit headlines worldwide, and Patrick took the opportunity to show his former co-star his support.
“Meghan Markle and I spent the better part of a decade working together on Suits. From day one she was an enthusiastic, kind, cooperative, giving, joyful and supportive member of our television family. She remained that person and colleague as fame, prestige and power accrued,” he wrote on Twitter at the time, which has since been deleted.
“She has always been a powerful woman with a deep sense of morality and a fierce work ethic and has never been afraid to speak up, be heard and defend herself and those she holds dear. Like the rest of the world, I have watched her navigate the last few years in astonishment,” he continued.
“She fell in love, moved to a new country, became a household name across the entire globe and began the difficult work of trying to find her place in a family dynamic that can at best be described as complicated and at worst, seemingly archaic and toxic.”
‘She has always been a powerful woman’
Patrick continued.
“It sickened me to read the endless racist, slanderous, clickbaiting vitriol spewed in her direction from all manner of media across the UK and the world but I also knew that Meghan was stronger than people realized or understood and they would regret underestimating her,” he then wrote.
“On any sort of decent planet that would be a time to stop sharpening the knives and let these two people enjoy the magical early months and years of starting a family. But we don’t live on that planet and instead the hunt continued,” he then said.
Why did Patrick Adams delete pictures of Meghan Markle?
In 2023, Patrick came under fire for posting pictures of Meghan on Instagram. But the anger was not for the reason you may think.
The TV star uploaded several throwback snaps of his time on Suits on Instagram back in September 2023.
However, the actor was swiftly forced to delete them due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes at the time.
Between July and November 2023, Hollywood went on strike against major film and TV studios in a labour dispute over their contracts. They were fighting for better pay, better compensation from streaming platforms, and regulations over the use of AI.
During the time, those involved in the strike weren’t allowed to promote shows or movies, regardless of whether it was still on air or not.
By sharing pictures of Suits, Patrick was going against the rules of the SAG-AFTRA strikes.
After deleting the pictures, Patrick issued an apology.
“The last couple of days I foolishly and thoughtlessly let a trip down Suits memory lane distract me from the very real and ongoing fight everyone in @sagaftra continues to wage in its effort to win our membership realistic 21st century compensation and protections,” he wrote.
“It was an embarrassing oversight for which I’m incredibly sorry,” he added. “So grateful to those who gently and swiftly course-corrected me here and I look forward to continuing the fight in the days and weeks ahead. #sagaftrastrong.”
Are they still friends?
Last year saw Patrick speak about his former co-star once again.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick and his Suits co-star, Gabriel Macht, were asked if they’ve spoken to Meghan recently.
“I have not communicated with her other than seeing her big support for the resurgence, and that has been really nice,” Gabriel said.
“Zero. No, no communication,” Patrick added. “But…,” he added before Gabriel mimed a phone ringing.
“Oh, there she is,” Patrick joked, taking his phone out. “Gotta go!”
