Queen Elizabeth’s ‘sad reaction to health news before her death’
Back in 2021, just weeks after losing her beloved husband, Prince Philip, the queen allegedly received some more devastating news.
According to multiple sources, the monarch was reportedly informed by medics that she had a form of bone marrow cancer. However, Buckingham Palace never confirmed this.
On the queen’s death certificate, her cause of death was stated as “old age”.
Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson claimed in his memoir that he “had known for a year or more that she had a form of bone cancer”.
Now, Paul Burrell, who previously worked for the royals as a butler, claimed that the queen reacted to the alleged news with her trademark stoicism.
The monarch is believed to have said “well, that’s a shame” upon hearing the reported diagnosis.

Burrell, writing in his new book The Royal Insider, then went on to claim that the queen had said it was a “pity” as “next year is my platinum jubilee year and I’d quite like to have seen that”.
The queen then reportedly made a heartbreaking request to doctors, according to Burrell.
“Can you keep me alive for that?” she allegedly asked them.
Royal Insider has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.
