Prince Harry's 'destroyed' bond with King Charles means monarch will 'never trust' him again
The father and son duo could reunite in the coming days
King Charles and Prince Harry‘s relationship is often under scrutiny. Since Harry’s move to the US and his claims of mistreatment from The Firm, it has been made clear that the bond between the father and son duo has been under substantial strain.
Especially following Harry’s fleeting visit to his “Pa” following Charles’ shock cancer diagnosis in February 2024. Their meeting reportedly lasted no more than 45 minutes.
Speculation has swirled since then, alleging King Charles is seemingly avoiding Harry, rumours of their conflicting agendas, and Prince William’s reported stance against a reunion.
All the while, Harry has made it clear he is hopeful for a reconciliation. Now, a former royal butler has chimed in on the alleged real reason that the monarch may never trust the Duke of Sussex again.

King Charles’ ‘distrust’ of Prince Harry
Grant Harrold, who once served as butler to King Charles, is sharing a glimpse into royal life with his new book, The Royal Butler.
Harrold, who worked for Charles between 2004 and 2011, blames the breakdown of their relationship on Harry’s behaviour.
“The king doesn’t trust Harry, because of what Harry has said. He worried that he would use it to his advantage. And he has,” Harrold stated to Page Six. “They were all so close, and to see that relationship completely destroyed, I do not see them coming back from it.”
It seems Harrold is referencing Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare, where he divulged a lot of information about the royals, as well as his Netflix show, Harry & Meghan, where the couple shed light on their experiences as working royals.
Harrold believes that Harry and Meghan Markle’s interactions with the media have also prevented a reunion.
He questioned: “If they reconcile, then fall out again, what’s to say there won’t be another book, Netflix series or interview about it?”

The former royal staffer also believes that Meghan Markle’s entrance into Harry’s life impacted his once “inseparable” bond with Prince William.
“As soon as Meghan came into his life, everything changed,” Harrold said. “The biggest change in Harry’s life is Meghan.”
The duke recently gave a rare glimpse into his experience as a brother with a telling remark about sibling dynamics.
Harry spoke with a 17-year-old award recipient at the 2025 WellChild Awards who mentioned he had a younger brother.
Prince Harry then quipped: “Does he drive you mad?”

The teen insisted that he gets along well with his brother, to which Harry laughed and replied: “You know what, siblings.”
He added that sharing the same school as a brother can sometimes “make it more challenging”.
It seems the prince, as a younger brother himself, was implying his own experiences with Wills as they both attended Eton College, albeit in different years, an all-boys school in Berkshire.
Elsewhere, rumours continue to swirl about whether Harry, Charles and William will reunite in the coming days.
King Charles latest
According to The Sun, King Charles is settling back down in London this week, seemingly on time for his youngest son’s visit, following a summer at Balmoral, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Although none of this has been confirmed, Harry said of a reunion earlier this year in a sit down interview with BBC: “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious.”
