Meghan Markle has taken to social media to celebrate her husband, Prince Harry, on his birthday.

The Duke of Sussex turns 41 today (September 15). He is expected to spend the day at home with his wife Meghan and children, Archie and Lilibet, in Montecito, California, no doubt recovering from his action-packed trip to the UK last week.

In honour of the occasion, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, shared a cute throwback photo on Instagram.

Harry birthday photo explained

The photo is believed to be a decade old, taken back on Harry’s 31st birthday, before the couple first met. It was reportedly snapped during an historic RAF flypast in West Sussex in 2015 to mark the 75th anniversary World War Two’s Battle of Britain.

Prince Harry had been due to take part, but ended up giving up his seat for a WW2 veteran when one of the Spitfires was grounded.

It is the first time Meghan has posted on her personal Instagram account since Harry’s trip abroad last week.

On Sunday (September 14), she seemingly confirmed his return home with a post on her As Ever business account.

She shared a photo of two celebratory glasses of wine, with the cute caption: “When your beau is back in town…”

Duke of Sussex returns from Europe trip

It’s been a busy week for Prince Harry, who spent four days in the UK from September 8 attending various charity engagements.

Last Monday, he appeared at the annual WellChild Awards in London. The charity, which he has been patron of for 17 years, celebrates the achievements of seriously ill young people and their families.

Whilst in town, Harry also took the time to honour his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the third anniversary of her death. He reportedly visited her resting place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, and laid a wreath for her.

He then travelled on to Nottingham. He visited a community initiative, where he also announced a £1.1 million personal donation to BBC Children in Need.

Following a great deal of speculation, Harry also took the opportunity to reunite with his father, for the first time in 19 months. The prince and king reportedly enjoyed a private tea together at Clarence House, for around 55 minutes.

After his UK visit, the duke made a visit to Kyiv in Ukraine. He made the visit to celebrate the recovery and rehabilitation of veterans who suffered injuries since the war with Russia began.

He also met with Ukraine’s Minister for Veterans Affairs, Natalia Kalmykova, to discuss ways his Invictus Games Foundation can “enhance support for wounded, injured, and sick serving personnel and veterans returning home with life-changing injuries”.
