Princess Eugenie makes new announcement

Eugenie shared an announcement to her social media on Wednesday where she shed light on “fake fashion” and the use of “exploitation” in the fashion industry.

Her latest work is very close to her heart, having co-founded The Anti-Slavery Collective with her childhood friend Julia de Boinville in 2017.

The new campaign, named Hidden Threads: Fake Fashion – A Human Rights Scandal, looks to expose the secret exploitation in international counterfeit fashion supply chains.

Eugenie and Julia’s organisation shared the initiative to Instagram where they penned a statement.

Princess Eugenie exposes ‘exploitation’ behind fake goods

It read: “Did you know that Fake fashion is a booming industry worth hundreds of billions, driving a hidden web of exploitation and harm to people and planet?

“From forced labour and child exploitation to human trafficking, fake fashion – the kind you can buy online, on the streets, or on holiday – is rife with harm.

“This week, we hosted an event in NYC with fashion insiders, behavioural change experts, brands, and specialists to shine a light on this overlooked human rights scandal.”

The statement added: “Our campaign, Hidden Threads: Fake Fashion – A Human Rights Scandal, calls on governments to collect and share data on illicit trade and counterfeiting and implement and enforce forced labour bans.

“We also urge everyone to consider whether buying a fake handbag, football shirt, or trainers is worth the cost of people around the world being exploited.”

Princess Eugenie on social media

As Princess Eugenie isn’t a working royal, she appears to control her own Instagram account. The princess updates her followers there on a regular basis.

Including when marking special occasions, like her sister Princess Beatrice’s birthday.

On August 8, Beatrice’s birthday, Eugenie shared a string of snaps of her sibling. She gushed in the caption: “Happy happy birthday to my dearest Beabea.. my big sissy, the best in the entire world.”

Eugenie also shared a glimpse into her ongoing work away from her job.

Princess Eugenie, who has Scoliosis (an abnormal sideways curving of the spine), often supports the Scoliosis Support and Research charity. She recently did an interview with them back in June, which was shared on socials.

Prior to this, Eugenie posted to Instagram with a snap with artist Dame Sonia Dawn Boyce.

Eugenie, who works in the arts, penned alongside the photo: “Celebrating 25 years of @tate Modern.

“It was truly remarkable to hear @gwendolineuniverse‘s powerful performance of her poem to Maman, Louise Bourgeois’ spectacular spider, as well as a light show honouring the 25 artists of the Turbine Hall.

“Great to see @soniaboyceartist too. The Tate space has, and continues to, truly change the face of contemporary art in London.”
