Prince Harry could be setting up “emotional problems” for his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for when they’re older, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, recently returned to the UK for a series of charitable engagements.

During the visit, he met up with his father, King Charles, for the first time in 19 months. They had a private tea at the king’s London residence, Clarence House.

He made the visit alone, without his wife Meghan Markle, 44, and their two kids. However, during an interview days later, Harry said he would consider bringing his children back to Britain to visit despite past security concerns.

When did King Charles last see Archie and Lilibet?

It’s believed that King Charles, 76, hasn’t seen his grandchildren in person in years. According to reports, he last seen them in June 2022 as the Sussex family travelled to the UK for Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebrations, which also coincided with Lilibet‘s first birthday.

Earlier this year, Harry was in the UK to appeal a court decision over the level of his security in his homeland. When Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020, their taxpayer-funded security in the UK was downgraded.

It was decided that they shouldn’t receive the same level of police protection given to working members of the royal family.

After losing his appeal, Harry told the BBC: “I can’t see a world in which I will be bringing my wife and children back to the UK. They’re going to miss everything, I love my country.”

He added: “I miss the UK, I miss parts of the UK.”

He’s storing up a lot of, you know, emotional problems for them.

However, after his recent UK trip earlier in September, Harry’s view seemed to change.

When asked if he’d bring his kids to the UK to visit, Harry told The Guardian: “Yes I would. This week has definitely brought that closer.”

Prince Harry warned over Archie and Lilibet after UK return

Now, royal expert and author Hugo Vickers has issued Harry a warning.

Speaking to The Sun‘s Royal Exclusive show, Mr Vickers said: “I worry about the children because there’s going to come a point when they’re going to say, why haven’t I met my grandfather on either side?

“And so he’s storing up a lot of, you know, emotional problems for them, I think.”

Harry, Meghan, and their children live in Montecito, California. Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from duties, their relationship with the royal family has become strained.

A string of tell-all interviews and Harry’s memoir Spare are believed to have damaged relations over the years.

However, Harry’s recent meeting with King Charles seems to be the first step in a possible reconciliation in the future.
