Rumours have swirled over the years that Kate Middleton did her own makeup for her 2011 wedding to Prince William. But now, it seems the truth has finally been confirmed.

Speaking on the Breaking Beauty podcast to promote her new memoir Still Bobbi, makeup mogul Bobbi Brown addressed the long-standing rumour.

“I did not do her makeup. I wish I did,” she clarified. “It was one of my artists, Hannah Martin, who’s become quite a sensation in the UK.”

Did Kate Middleton do her own wedding makeup?

No, despite many rumours, Kate didn’t do her own makeup for her April 2011 wedding day.

Although the Princess of Wales reportedly took private lessons in the lead-up to her big day, Brown confirmed it was Hannah who applied Kate’s now-iconic look, using Bobbi Brown products, on the morning of the royal wedding.

“Hannah did give me some information that I should set my alarm and watch,” Brown recalled. She shared that they texted during the big moment as Hannah was freaking out with excitement.

“It was like 6am or something. We were texting back and forth. She’s like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.'”

When asked whether the company claimed credit for the famous look, Brown said no.

She said: “We didn’t as a company use it. No one did that back then. It wasn’t the right thing to do.”

Still, she fondly remembers receiving a letter of thanks on behalf of the royal bride, which she now has framed in her office.

Hannah’s elegant, understated makeup design has become one of the most recognisable royal bridal looks in recent memory.

The future queen’s beauty team also included hairstylists James Pryce and Richard Ward from London’s Richard Ward salon. The pair were responsible for styling her locks into a soft half-updo.

“Catherine was very involved,” Ward previously told PEOPLE, adding that the team created three mood boards and narrowed the look down with her input. “It was really a matter of getting a fine balance of feeling natural but also reflecting the occasion.”

Kate reportedly spent two hours prepping her hair the night before, followed by another two hours of styling on the wedding day itself.

Kate’s wedding to Prince William on April 29, 2011, was watched by tens of millions across the world.

She wore a floor-length ivory gown by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen with a handmade lace bodice.

Completing her bridal look was a nine-foot train, a Cartier halo tiara borrowed from Queen Elizabeth, and a veil made of Chantilly lace.

Her bouquet carried an even deeper meaning. The arrangement included sweet William to honour her groom, and myrtle and lily of the valley to represent love, purity, and hope.

In line with royal tradition, her bouquet was later placed on the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey.
