The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, issued a sweet apology to some young royal fans over her outfit.

Last Thursday (October 2), Kate paid a visit to the RAF Coningsby air base, where her clothing choices got many people talking.

Kate Middleton’s outfit for RAF visit

Arriving at the air base, Kate, who was named Royal Honorary Air Commodore in 2023, looked stylish as ever in a grey trouser suit.

It seemed like a practical outfit for the day, which reportedly saw the royal performing a loop-the-loop in a flight simulator in the training centre.

In a video shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales on Instagram, she also had a tour of the air base, meeting with the RAF’s reaction alert team and viewing a typhoon aircraft, as well as chatting with personnel and their families stationed at Coningsby.

The princess received a great deal of praise for her “reworn” outfit. Many eagle-eyed royal fans recognised the Prince of Wales check suit, believed to be designed by Bella Freud, which she had previously worn during a visit to Suffolk just last month.

“Love that grey suit!” One person commented.

“Princess Catherine looks very elegant in her grey suit,” somebody else agreed.

Another also said: “Princess of Wales always graceful and kind and of course beautifully dressed in any occasion.”

“The Lady in the Grey Suit!!!! Love this!!!!” A fourth fan gushed.

‘I’m sorry I didn’t wear my dress’

However, it seems a few well wishers on the air base left Kate feeling a little underdressed. The Princess of Wales was pictured meeting some young royal fans, who had gone all out for the occasion in adorable princess dresses.

I’m sorry I didn’t wear my dress today.

As she crouched down to greet her little admirers, whose parents work on and around the base, Kate apparently was apparently in awe of their princess-worthy outfits.

“Where is my dress? If I had known…” she reportedly told the group of young girls, according to reports, before telling one: “I’m sorry I didn’t wear my dress today. Thank you for coming to see me.”

During her visit to RAF Coningsby, Kate also shared a cute update on her and William’s youngest child.

It seems Prince Louis, seven, is already very keen on following in his father Prince William and uncle Prince Harry’s aviation footsteps.

After sharing Louis’ ambition on becoming a fighter pilot, she jokingly told Wing Commander Luke ‘Wilko’ Wilkinson: “I’m going to tell them (George, Charlotte and Louis) it takes eight years and a lot of hard work.”
