Sweet way Prince George is following in mum Kate Middleton's footsteps with hobby
George has a passion for some sports!
A glimpse into Prince George’s latest hobby has revealed he’s not just following in his father’s footsteps but also taking after his mum, Kate Middleton.
As second in line to the throne, Prince George’s resemblance to his father, Prince William, is impossible to miss.
From tailored suits to their shared love of football and planes, the 12-year-old future king seems to mirror his father in both style and interests.
But in a recent revelation, it’s become clear that George also shares a heartfelt connection with his mum, Kate Middleton, especially when it comes to one particular hobby.

Prince George’s surprise hobby he shares with Kate Middleton
In the latest episode of The Reluctant Traveler season 3 on Apple TV+, Prince William gave host Eugene Levy a tour of Windsor Castle and opened up about his family.
As they chatted over a pint in a Windsor pub, William casually mentioned: “George loves his football and hockey.”
While George’s passion for football is well known, with frequent public appearances at matches alongside his dad, the mention of hockey was a more surprising detail. And it’s a hobby that clearly runs in the family.
Kate, Princess of Wales, has a long and well-documented love of hockey. During her time at Marlborough College, she captained the school’s field hockey team.
That competitive spirit stayed with her well into adulthood. Royal fans might remember the iconic 2012 moment when she took to the hockey pitch at St Andrew’s School wearing knee-high heeled boots.
Her joy while playing has always been visible. Now, it seems, Prince George is following her lead.
The Princess of Wales continued her sporting streak at St Andrew’s University. She has spoken openly about how her upbringing shaped her love for physical activity.
“I suppose as a family we were just very active,” she said in a 2023 episode of The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast. “[My parents] always encouraged us to be physically active and sporty. They always encouraged us into doing team sports and trying things.”

Wales children sporting habits
All three Wales children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, attend Lambrook School, which places a strong emphasis on sport.
The school boasts an all-weather hockey pitch. Pupils take part in a wide range of athletics, including football, rugby, netball, and cricket.
For George, hockey is just one of several sports he’s cecome passionate about. He also enjoys rugby and has attended numerous matches with his parents.
Although he hasn’t publicly chosen a team, the family faces some friendly rivalry. William is the Patron of Welsh Rugby, while Kate supports England.
With parents as passionate about sport as William and Kate, it’s only natural that Prince George is emerging as a talented and competitive young athlete.
