Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie ‘miss big event’

According to Hello! Magazine, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie had been scheduled to attend a star-studded event at the British Museum on Saturday night (October 18).

The sisters, 37 and 35, were reportedly both on the guest list for the Pink Ball, a new event from the London museum aiming to rival Manhattan’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Met Gala.

For its first year, guests were invited to theme their outfits around the colour pink to pay homage to the museum’s current exhibition, Ancient India: Living Traditions.

Celebs such as Naomi Campbell and Mick Jagger, and royal relatives Lady Kitty, Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer joined the princesses on the line-up.

However, on the day, neither Beatrice or Eugenie appeared to show up at the ball.

Prince Andrew’s announcement about royal title

The princesses’ absence is perhaps unsurprising amid the significant announcement from their father just hours earlier.

I will no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.

Prince Andrew’s statement read: “In discussion with the king, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the royal family.

“I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.”

He continued: “With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

This means that Prince Andrew will no longer use the title of Duke of York, which he has held since 1986.

He has also given up membership of the Order of the Garter. However, he will remain a prince as he was born with this title as the second son of Queen Elizabeth II.

While Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, will also lose her Duchess of York title as a result, the couple’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, will continue to have the title of princess.
