Charles' visit comes 14 years after Queen Elizabeth II visitedKing Charles is set to visit Lichfield Cathedral this month and it appears to be good news for royal fans, as the public have been told they can “greet” him.
Lichfield Cathedral’s official website confirmed the news in a statement. They revealed that King Charles will be in attendance on Monday (October 27).
But instead of keeping the visit private, King Charles will be greeted with quite a lot of adoring fans, waiting outside.

King Charles’ Lichfield Cathedral appearance announced
In a statement on the Cathedral’s website from Reverend Jan McFarlane, Dean of Lichfield, the news was announced.
Reverend Jan said: “We are thrilled to welcome His Majesty King Charles III to Lichfield Cathedral, 14 years after The Late queen Elizabeth II visited us.
“We are so proud of our magnificent Cathedral and City. And it means a great deal to everyone to be able to show our king all that is happening in our community.
“We very much hope that residents of our fine city will line the streets to greet our king with enthusiastic cheers.”
The website states that “public viewing areas” will be set up around The Close. And crowds can arrive from 9am but to expect limited capacity.

Can anyone see King Charles?
The website’s frequently asked questions section gives quite a lot of information on what to expect that day.
When asked if anyone can “come to see the king?” the website clarifies what the public can expect.
It states: “King Charles III will see invited guests inside the Cathedral, including volunteers and choirs from around the area.
We very much hope that residents of our fine city will line the streets to greet our king with enthusiastic cheers.
“Entry to the Cathedral will be for invited guests only, but there will be provision made for those who wish to greet the king on his arrival.”
Unfortunately for fans, they don’t have a long time period to get to greet Charles. It’s believed that the visit will be “finished by 12pm at the latest”. Following that, the Cathedral is expected to reopen as normal.

King Charles’ recent trips
But before King Charles visits Lichfield Cathedral, he has his Vatican state visit to complete.
Today (October 23) King Charles is meeting with Pope Leo for the first time. The state visit is set to “mark a significant moment in relations between the Catholic Church and Church of England,” the palace has said.
Charles and Camilla have joined Pope Leo to celebrate the 2025 Jubilee Year. This is a special time for the Catholic Church, and is traditionally marked every 25 years.
But the visit is expected to focus on King Charles and Pope Leo’s “commitment to the protection of nature and concern for the environment”.
Meanwhile, in a historic moment, King Charles and Pope Leo became the first British monarch and pontiff to pray side by side in more than 500 years.
