Prince Harry has addressed whether he plans to become a US citizen in the future as he made a new podcast appearance.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, has appeared on the Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know podcast, which was released on Wednesday (October 29).

During the episode, Harry and Hasan discussed the dangers of social media and AI – something the duke has been vocal about for some time.

Harry expressed his concern for his young children, Archie and Lilibet, when they want to start using social media and have phones.

Prince Harry reveals whether he wants to become a US citizen

Harry moved to the United States in early 2020 with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their son, Prince Archie.

It came after Harry and Meghan chose to step down from their senior royal roles. They have since built a life in Montecito, California, with Archie and their daughter Princess Lilibet, who was born in 2021.

Harry’s US visa has been a talking point since his move across the pond. The type of visa Harry currently holds is unknown.

However, following Harry’s revelations in his memoir Spare about his past drug use, the right-wing Heritage Foundation have consistently challenged the duke’s immigration status. The American think tank sought to determine whether Harry disclosed his drug use on his visa application. It’s something that could have led to his denial of entry into the US.

During the podcast, Hasan asked the prince: “Are you going to become a US citizen?”

After a brief pause, Harry replied: “Am I going to become a US citizen? There are no plans to be at this point.”

Hasan said: “Nicely done.”

Elsewhere, Hasan also asked Prince Harry a string of quick-fire questions.

He asked: “Are there things that used to confuse you about America that you now understand?”

Harry admitted: “No, it’s become more confusing. It’s become way more confusing.”

Hasan then asked: “What do your kids think you do?”

Am I going to become a US citizen? There are no plans to be at this point.

Prince Harry said: “That’s a good question. They know that we help other people. But they don’t know the background.”

Harry also spoke about the loss of renowned British animal rights and conservation advocate and primatologist Jane Goodall. Jane died at the start of the month, at the age of 91.

The duke said of Jane: “Jane was one of the last remaining individuals with a true moral compass.

“She’s a compassion leader and she is exactly what we need more of today. The world is worse off without her for sure.”
