Kate Beckinsale on being mistaken for Kate Middleton following hospital stay
The actress took to Instagram to joke about the blunder
After a health scare landed her in the hospital, actress Kate Beckinsale ended up being confused with none other than Kate Middleton.
Back in 2019, the Underworld star took to Instagram to share that she had been hospitalised for a ruptured ovarian cyst.
However, one media outlet accidentally ran the story with a photo of Kate, Princess of Wales, instead of Beckinsale.

Rather than get upset, actress Kate took it in stride, and with a good dose of humour.
“So moved and touched by all the kind wishes I have received over the last few days and staggered by the similar and worse stories my #cysters have been sending me,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a screenshot of the article featuring the royal’s image.
“I am feeling much better, and I hope all the other girls going through it are too. Back to resume my royal duties. William says hi.”
The joke quickly took off in the comments, with celebrity friends joining the fun.

“Tell Meghan I say hi!” Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland quipped. Charmed star Rose McGowan joked: “You made us proud, duchess.”
Even the outlet behind the mix-up, USA Today, was quick to acknowledge the mistake and offer a sincere apology.
“We’re glad to hear you’re feeling much better,” they wrote in the comments, as reported by PEOPLE. “We apologise for the image associated with the story. Our system pulled the first image in the photo gallery.
It just so happens the lead photo in the gallery is of Duchess Kate. We regret the error and are working to make sure this does not happen again.”
Earlier that weekend, Beckinsale had posted a vulnerable photo from her hospital bed, writing: “Turns out a ruptured ovarian cyst really hurts and morphine makes me cry. So thankful to everyone who looked after me.”

Princess of Wales news
Meanwhile, the “other” Kate has had a packed schedule.
The Princess of Wales has recently made a series of high-profile appearances, including the Royal Variety Performance and the Future Workforce Summit, where she delivered her first public speech in two years.
Later this week, she is expected to make a solo appearance in London. On Thursday, November 27, the Princess of Wales is scheduled to visit Anna Freud, a leading children’s mental health charity she’s been patron of since 2016.
Kate will meet with CEO Professor Eamon McCrory to learn about a new mental health initiative for children and families.
Kate and Prince William also made headlines last week as they stepped out for the Royal Variety Performance. The appearance marked their first time attending together since 2023.
Wearing a sleek forest green Talbot Runhof velvet gown, Kate looked every inch the royal, while William sported a classic tux.
The couple even shared a rare moment of PDA. William gently placed a hand on Kate’s back as they entered Royal Albert Hall.
The event marked Kate’s first return to the Royal Variety since her cancer diagnosis.
