King Charles is reportedly mulling over whether to make his nieces, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, official working royals.

His reported dilemma over welcoming them into the working royal fold comes amid the ongoing drama surrounding their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

King Charles ‘facing decision’ over Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice

The monarch is said to be considering how Beatrice and Eugenie can fulfill more royal duties, so they aren’t left out of the loop.

“It was something that was being looked at before recent events but despite what has happened with Andrew, it’s not off the cards,” a royal source reportedly told Vanity Fair. “Whatever people might think of Andrew, the girls are kind, hardworking and want to help if they can.”

Meanwhile, there has been speculation that the king discussed a “deal” with Andrew himself, supposedly negotiating Beatrice and Eugenie’s future within The Firm.

Beatrice and Eugenie’s ‘future’ as ‘working royals’

“There was no deal struck about the future for Beatrice and Eugenie, they are private individuals in that respect, but there have been talks for some time about using them when and if there is a need,” the source explained.

“For their part, they have let it be known that they are more than willing to do public duties if and when they can to support the king,” the palace insider continued.

This was reflected earlier this month when The King’s Foundation shared a social media post including photos of Princess Eugenie attending a mentoring event on behalf of the monarch.

She was said to have been very proud to be asked.

Elsewhere, another source has reportedly stated that King Charles “is fond of his nieces and doesn’t want them to suffer because of their father’s downfall”.

The allegations against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

Andrew lost his royal titles due to ongoing scrutiny over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexually assaulting her when she was 17, tragically took her life in April.

She alleged that she was trafficked to the former prince at the age of 17 by Epstein. Andrew vehemently denies these claims.

Back in 2022, Andrew allegedly paid millions to settle a lawsuit with Ms Giuffre in the US. He did not admit guilt and continues to deny all allegations.

In light of Ms Giuffre’s posthumous memoir being published in October, public outrage has continued to bubble.

Especially as resurfaced emails allegedly between Andrew and Epstein have emerged in recent weeks.

One 2011 email appeared to show Andrew telling the disgraced financier, “we’ll play some more soon”.

This is despite his claim that he severed ties with Epstein in December 2010.

October and November brought more scrutiny for Andrew. He gave up his dukedom and was later stripped of his title as prince after his brother, Charles, initiated a formal process.

Andrew is now expected to move out of Royal Lodge, his home near Windsor Castle, sometime next year. Reports say he’ll live at Sandringham, the king’s private estate in Norfolk.
