Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, have sent a sweet message to DWTS winner Robert Irwin.

Over the last lot of weeks Robert has been competing on Dancing with the Stars, hoping to take home the trophy, 10 years after his sister Bindi won the show. And on Tuesday evening (November 25), he successfully beat the other celebrities and took home first place.

He has been congratulated by quite a lot of famous faces. But Prince William keeps sending positive messages to Robert, and just a few weeks after his surprise appearance on the show, the prince has sent his own congratulations.

Prince William sends message of congratulations to Robert Irwin

Partnered with professional dancer Witney Carson, Robert, the son of the late conservationist Steve Irwin, took home the win during the final of DWTS.

And over the years, Prince William and Kate have had a quite close relationship with Robert. So, it’s not really a surprise that he reached out to congratulate him on the huge win.

On Instagram, Robert posted a photo celebrating the win, and showing the moment he was announced victorious.

The post gathered quite a lot of attention. But fans couldn’t help but notice the top comment was from the Prince and Princess of Wales’ own official social media account.

Robert captioned the post: “Dreams do come true,” with a heart emoji. And in a response, Prince William and Kate penned: “Congratulations Robert and Witney!” alongside a disco-ball emoji.

This isn’t the first time they have shown their support, as Prince William actually made an appearance on Dancing with the Stars not that long ago.

Prince William’s appearance on Dancing with the Stars

During the special episode, celebrating two decades of Dancing with the Stars, Prince William appeared via video link to send his support to Robert.

In the pre-recorded segment, William joked with Robert, referring to him as “twinkle toes”.

He said: “We are missing you, Robert. Whilst your ‘twinkle toes’ are going off elsewhere, I need you down here.”

Prince William continued: “Witney, you need to get him in as much glitter as you can. You guys have got a seriously good chance of winning it.”

After the video, Witney was in shock, gushing: “I can’t believe he just said my name.”

Are Robert Irwin and Prince William friends?

Back in 2024, Robert became an ambassador for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, and the pair have been working together ever since.

At the time, Robert said: “The Earthshot Prize is a beacon of hope for all of us who care about the environment. And about our ability to ensure a liveable future for ourselves and future generations.

“Healthy oceans, ecosystems and species equal a healthy planet. The Earthshot Prize recognises the importance of investing in and helping grow solutions that protect these critical resources.”

Then when Robert was on BBC Radio 2 with DJ Scott Mills, they played him a sweet voice note from Prince William, himself.

During the voice-note William praised Robert as a “brilliant ambassador” for the Earthshot Prize, while apologising for not being there in person.
