Prince Harry’s ‘doppelganger’ has his say

Prince Harry’s doppelganger isn’t convinced. In fact, he doesn’t see the resemblance.

Kate’s Together at Christmas carol service is usually attended by a star-studded guest list.

One guest in particular captured the attention of viewers last year, but he wasn’t a celebrity. But some thought he could be an unexpected royal!

Social media users spotted the gentleman’s ginger beard and military uniform and jumped to conclusions. Some believed it with Prince Harry, all the way from the US, visiting his royal relatives and showing support for Princess Kate, despite being estranged from The Wales family.

However, it turned out that the lookalike was Sergeant Chris Dykes, a reservist in the RAF.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry was, of course, in Montecito, California with his family.

A year later, Sergeant Chris Dykes has had his say and claims that Prince Harry jokes have started to die down.

He told MailOnline that the the buzz is “wearing off” and that he is looking forward to a “quieter Christmas” away from the spotlight.

“Unfortunately, I still don’t see the resemblance,” he laughed. “I think it was more a case of mistaken ginger identity, with the stubble going on and it simply being at a royal event in uniform.”

Chris (pictured here) also shared that he won’t be at the carol service tonight, but he will watch when it airs on December 24.

Sergeant Chris Dykes is a member of 622 Volunteer Gliding Squad based at Upavon, near Pewsey in Wiltshire.

Sergeant Chris Dykes earned himself a very royal nickname

Just before the service last year, he had been promoted and was asked by his commanding officer if he would like to go to the service and represent the squadron.

Chris admitted that it was a “bit of a shock” when he woke up on Christmas eve to find himself splashed all over social media.

When asked about the viral moment he revealed that it earned him the nicknames Sgt Harry and Sgt Windsor.

“Someone suggested I should try my luck as a look-a-like,” he quipped at the time.

Thankfully, the ordeal hasn’t put a dampener on Kate’s festive carol service for Chris. In fact, he is looking to enjoy the programme from the comfort of his own home this year.

When asked about tuning in to the programme, he said: “From my experience, it had a majestic sense of what the Christmas spirit is about – focusing on the sacrifice of others – so I will definitely be watching it again this year.”

Meanwhile, The Wales family have already been photographed arriving at the event held at Westminster Abbey.
