As Christmas approaches, royal experts suggest Prince William may surprise Kate Middleton with a meaningful and possibly never-before-seen gift.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold says there could be a surprise in store for Princess Kate.

Harrold, who worked closely with King Charles for several years, revealed to Slots Temple that while the family are known for giving “light-hearted” joke presents on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day is when the meaningful gifts come out.

This could include jewellery that the public has never seen before.

Prince William could give Kate Middleton ‘never seen before’ gift

“These [gifts] can include heirloom pieces,” Harrold said, referencing jewels once owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen Mother, or Princess Diana. These heirlooms may now be passed down to senior royals like Camilla or Catherine.

Harrold revealed that many pieces from the royal family’s private jewellery collection have yet to be seen publicly.

This makes it highly plausible that Kate could receive a “never seen before” piece this Christmas.

“There’s still a large amount of personal jewellery in the family that hasn’t been publicly seen, so passing on heirlooms is very likely,” he said.

But it’s not just vintage pieces the royals exchange. According to Harrold, the family also buy modern jewellery from designers they know and trust.

He explained: “The royals do buy from modern jewellers. For example, Catherine has been seen in pieces made by a close family friend. So Christmas gifts could easily include both antiques and contemporary designs.”

As for Queen Camilla, Harrold said she’s most likely to receive pearl necklaces, earrings, or brooches, traditional pieces that reflect her personal taste and the style of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Rings are less likely, as she already owns many. Tiaras are “extremely unlikely,” since they are shared within the Royal Collection.

When asked what Prince William or Prince Harry would likely gift to Kate and Meghan, Harrold said jewellery is the obvious answer. While small home gifts might be possible, jewellery remains the most personal and fitting option.

“A piece of jewellery is the most likely Christmas gift,” he clarified.

Meanwhile, the royal family is gearing up for their Christmas celebrations.

On Friday, the Princess of Wales hosted her annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey.

The service celebrated “love in all its forms”. It will be broadcast on ITV on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to host most of the family at Sandringham, including William, Kate and their children George, Charlotte and Louis, as well as Princess Anne, Sir Tim Laurence, and Zara and Mike Tindall with their children Mia, Lena and Lucas.

Zara recently confirmed at the Beauty Awards in London that her family will return to Sandringham again this year. “We are so lucky,” she gushed to the Daily Mail. “Christmas is always amazing. We will see everyone.”

Over in Montecito, Meghan Markle has revealed how she brings a touch of Britain to her Californian Christmas.

In her new Netflix special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, she shared that Christmas crackers are a beloved part of their festivities.
