King Charles unveils Christmas card

Buckingham Palace shared the new Christmas card design on their official social media channels over the weekend. You can see it here.

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!” the post read. “The King and Queen are pleased to share this year’s Christmas card, featuring a photograph taken in the grounds of Villa Wolkonsky in Rome during Their Majesties’ State Visit to The Republic of Italy in April.”

They went on to tag the talented photographer behind the snap, Chris Jackson.

The king and queen have picked out a photo of the pair of them taken in Rome for this year’s Christmas card.

The royal couple made a state visit to Italy back in April, meeting with the late Pope Francis just two weeks before he died. Later on in the year, they returned to meet the newly-elected Pope Leo XIV.

The picture shows a smiling King Charles and Queen Camilla arm-in-arm, Charles wearing a dark blue pinstripe suit and Camilla a long cream dress. In the background, we can see the stunning gardens of the Villa Wolkonsky, the British ambassador’s residence in Rome. The photo was taken by photographer Chris Jackson to mark the couple’s 20th wedding anniversary, which they celebrated during the visit.

The photo is framed by a red border inside the card. In matching coloured text on the opposite side, the greeting reads: “Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year.”

Cards signed personally by the monarch will be sent across the world, to family members, friends, world leaders and organisations.

‘Still very much in love’

The romantic card appears to have gone down a treat with royal fans, with many leaving comments and Christmas wishes on the post.

“Such a lovely photograph!” One person commented, adding: “Happy Christmas to Their Majesties!”

“I absolutely love this picture,” another fan agreed, followed by a love heart emoji.

“A beautiful photo. After 20 years of marriage, they are still very much in love,” a third person gushed.

A fourth person likewise commented: “Wouldn’t it be exciting to receive a Christmas card like this one in the mail!”

There was also a proud comment from photographer Chris Jackson himself, saying: “What a great visit that was! Happy Christmas!!”
