Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s latest Netflix project has a special link to their son, Prince Archie.

Over the last few years, Meghan and Harry have been heavily involved with the streaming service, Netflix. They have brought out a few projects since 2020.

But with their latest venture, they aren’t the stars on the screen. Instead, their production company helped behind-the-scenes.

The new show also has an adorable link to their own son. Meghan and Harry have two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

The new show is titled Masaka Kids – A Rhythm Within. It has been described as a “joyful short documentary” and aims to “spread hope and achieve global acclaim”.

Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Productions produced the film. The documentary tells the story of how independent film maker, David Lopez, got to know a group of children over several years. He visited them in Uganda and filmed with them as he volunteered.

The Masaka Kids Africana is a dance group of children from Africa, who are the age of two and up. Many of these children have lost one or both parents through war, famine and disease.

The Netflix show focuses on the story “behind the Uganda-based YouTube dance sensations who have endured devastating personal loss from famine and war and use the power of dance and song to overcome hardship”.

It’s said that Prince Archie would watch the dance group’s videos with Harry and Meghan during lockdown. So when the couple heard about the short film being made, they wanted to get involved with their production company.

‘They fell in love with their deeper stories’

This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Sussexes, who previously told The Telegraph: “They would watch the videos regularly with Archie at home. So, they were already admirers of the organisation before the film project came to them in 2023.

“When the duke and duchess were made aware of the short, they quickly recognised the kids from their viral videos and fell in love with their deeper stories. Archewell Productions then partnered with seasoned producer Geeta Gandbhir to harness the film’s style and tone and ultimately finish the film as you see it today.”

This cause is clearly important to Harry and Meghan as just last month, their Archewell Foundation donated $50,000 (£37,377) to Masaka Kids Africana, whose mission is to give children safe shelter, food, clothing, education and medical care.

The Netflix show premiered in the UK this week. So far, it has received a lot of positive comments, and we’re sure Archie is enjoying watching it with his parents!

Harry and Meghan’s relationship with Netflix

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have both used Netflix for various projects over the years.

Since they stepped away from their royal duties back in 2020 and moved to California, Meghan and Harry have been wanting to connect with the public. They have done so through their shows.

While they have had their own docuseries about their experience within the royal family, Meghan has most recently been on our screens through her lifestyle and cooking show, With Love, Meghan.

Season two of the show premiered not that long ago, and the Christmas special, featuring Prince Harry, aired earlier this month. However, it has been tipped that the show won’t actually get a season three.

However, that hasn’t stopped Meghan from getting back in the acting pool. She will reportedly star in the upcoming movie Close Personal Friends, playing herself.
