Just days before the Sandringham walkabout, Kate Middleton reportedly treated Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to a low-key festive evening at the Thursford Christmas Spectacular.

Described as “an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and speciality acts,” the show is renowned as one of the largest Christmas productions in Europe.

With more than 120 performers, the three-hour performance dazzles audiences each year. This time, it apparently had a few royal guests watching from the Royal Box.

Kate Middleton takes Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on Christmas outing

According to Lloyd Hollett, the comedian who hosted the event, Kate and her children were spotted enjoying the matinee from the Royal Box.

Last week, Lloyd took to Instagram to express his excitement.

“What a day,” he gushed. “Today, we were honoured by the presence of Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, alongside Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who attended our matinee performance.

Seeing them in the Royal Box enjoying our show was truly a career highlight.

“Seeing them in the Royal Box enjoying our show was truly a career highlight. We’re definitely going out on a high, with our final performance now underway.”

According to HELLO!, the trio attended the show on December 23. This was just ahead of Christmas Eve festivities at Anmer Hall and the traditional Christmas Day service at St. Mary Magdalene Church.

The Thursford Christmas Spectacular suggests children be eight years or older due to the show’s length. Although Prince Louis is only seven, he appeared to enjoy the festive experience.

This marked a contrast to the more traditional, and heavily photographed, royal Christmas events.

Just two days later, the Waleses were back in the spotlight, walking to church on Christmas morning alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other senior royals.

Christmas Day walkabout

The family of five made their way to St Mary Magdalene Church on December 25.

Prince George did not join his younger siblings for the December 23 outing. However, all three Wales children made an impression at Sandringham.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis walked confidently alongside their parents. Dressed smartly in coordinating coats and suits, the young royals exuded poise.

HELLO!’s US Royal News Correspondent Alexandra Hurtado, who was present at Sandringham, noted how confidently the children handled public attention.

“Charlotte… at ten years old exudes incredible confidence,” she wrote.

“I was genuinely impressed by how polite the Wales children are and how gracefully they handle the spotlight. They’ve clearly taken after their parents, exhibiting the same poise and charm.”

This low-key Christmas outing came just weeks after the family’s appearance at Kate’s Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey on December 5.

Coordinated in green and navy ensembles, the Wales family arrived together for the annual event, which has become a cornerstone of their holiday calendar.

For Prince Louis, the excitement continued on Christmas Day as he was seen hugging a giant Lindt chocolate ball gifted by a well-wisher, and wrestling with an oversized teddy bear that was nearly as big as him.

As for Thursford, tickets for the 2026 Spectacular are already on sale. However, this year’s surprise royal guests ensured the production went out on a high note.
