Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly set to shine a national spotlight on British excellence throughout 2026, dedicating at least one engagement each month to highlighting standout businesses, craftspeople, creatives, and community heroes across the UK.

A palace source announced the initiative.

“It’s really important for the Prince and Princess of Wales to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of the UK,” they said, as reported by GB News. “There will be a real emphasis in 2026 on showcasing some of the best of Britain.”

The campaign reflects the couple’s growing desire to celebrate the achievements of everyday Britons, including local volunteers and farmers, textile workers, artists, and engineers.

During a spring visit to the Isle of Mull, Prince William opened up about their vision to “spotlight” the people who act as the “glue” in communities.

The initiative comes at a time when the Princess of Wales is gradually resuming public duties following her cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy in 2024. Her recent engagements have focused particularly on the UK’s creative industries and heritage manufacturing.

In September, she toured textile producers across Suffolk and Kent, where she was seen meeting artisans and celebrating the revival of local crafts.

Kensington Palace described the visits as “a celebration of the British textile industry’s rich history”.  Days later, she wore a scarf from Sudbury Silk Mills during the U.S. State Visit at Windsor Castle.

The following month, the royal couple travelled to Northern Ireland. They visited a family-run cider orchard and learnt about traditional flax harvesting for linen-making.

Their renewed focus on British excellence will complement their existing causes. Prince William continues to lead the charge on environmental progress through his Earthshot Prize.

Meanwhile, Princess Kate continues to advocate for early childhood development through her Royal Foundation Centre.

William and Kate in 2026

As King Charles hands over more visible responsibilities to his heir, William and Kate are increasingly seen as the monarchy’s present and future.

They have taken on more prominent diplomatic duties. Prince William has recently represented the Crown at major international events and state visits.

King Charles himself remains an advocate for heritage crafts and sustainability through the King’s Foundation. The foundation trains young people in traditional trades like stonemasonry, textiles, and organic farming.

He is also patron of the Campaign for Wool, which promotes the importance of wool in sustainable living.

2026 is expected to be a defining chapter for the Prince and Princess of Wales, both professionally and personally.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold told The Independent: “William and Catherine are very much taking the lead these days. I think going into next year, William and Catherine’s roles are going to become more poignant. I think they’re going to do more duties, I think we’re going to see them as a family.”

“What they’re trying to show the world is, ‘this is the future of the monarchy,'” he added.
