Martha Stewart's true feelings towards Meghan Markle revealed as warning issued to duchess
Martha urged the duchess to be "authentic"
Martha Stewart may have paved the way for celebrity lifestyle empires but that doesn’t mean she’s handing over the crown without a word of advice, especially when it comes to Meghan Markle.
In a July 2025 interview with Yahoo News Australia, the 84-year-old domestic icon shared her honest opinion on the Duchess of Sussex stepping into the influencer-lifestyle space with her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan and the launch of her brand, As Ever.

Martha Stewart’s ‘advice’ to Meghan Markle
“I don’t mind. Good luck,” Martha said coolly when asked about Meghan and fellow lifestyle mogul Gwyneth Paltrow entering the space she helped build.
While she praised Gwyneth for building a respected business empire, Martha seemed more sceptical about Meghan.
“Meghan, I don’t really know very well,” she admitted, before offering a pointed observation. “I hope she knows what she’s talking about. Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important.”
With Meghan’s rapid rise in the lifestyle sphere, Martha’s words sound more like a seasoned warning: if you’re going to enter this space, you’d better do it with substance.
Martha did express interest in Meghan’s work. In April 2025, she told Access Hollywood that she was “curious” to check out With Love, Meghan, which premiered on Netflix in March and returned for a second season that August.
“I’ll watch an episode and see how she does,” Martha said.

With Love, Meghan on Netflix
With Love, Meghan follows Meghan as she explores cooking, gardening, entertaining, and family traditions. It ties directly into her As Ever lifestyle brand, which launched shortly after season one.
The brand’s initial rollout included herbal teas, cookie mixes, flower sprinkles, and even a signature rosé. The products were designed to channel Meghan’s cosy, curated aesthetic.
In an interview with PEOPLE in March, the Duchess of Sussex clarified her intentions.
“I see myself as an entrepreneur and a female founder,” she said. “And if the brand ends up influential, then that’s great.” Still, her high-profile projects and polished image have drawn inevitable comparisons to both Martha and Gwyneth.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s lifestyle ventures have continued to expand.
In December, she released With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. The festive Netflix special featured appearances from guests Naomi Osaka, Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio, and Meghan’s close circle of friends.
The duchess shared Christmas traditions, baked family recipes, and even exchanged a sweet on-camera kiss with Prince Harry.
Timed with the special’s release, As Ever launched its first holiday collection, including sparkling wines, beeswax candles, fruit preserves, and a trio of luxury chocolate bars crafted with LA chocolatier Compartés, which sold out in under an hour.
Netflix has not yet confirmed whether With Love, Meghan will return for a third season.
