Meghan Markle has divided fans on TikTok after being featured in a popular ‘edit’ style clip.

The Duchess of Sussex’s royal life has been summarised in a short clip shared to the platform. But you might be wondering: “How does Meghan Markle fit into the ‘rare aesthetic’ trend?”

The “rare aesthetic” trend that has been circling social media doesn’t really have to do with the very radiant Meghan Markle’s appearance.

Instead, it has everything to do with her attitude and unique situation, given she married a prince and swapped royal life for the life of a Netflix star and entrepreneur.

The trend has been a way for social media users to discuss topics including shared nostalgic moments to very unique stories like Meghan’s.

And it seems Meghan’s inclusion in this trend has divided social media users…

TikTok users slam Meghan Markle ‘viral moment’

The footage appears to celebrate Meghan Markle’s move away from royal life, in pursuit of peace and to improve her mental health.

The duchess has previously shared the detrimental impact of the of the attention she garnered after stepping into royal life.

This edit also highlights how Meghan went from a normal upbringing to working hard to become an actress, to catapulting to fame as Prince Harry’s girlfriend, then wife.

The video reads: “Rare aesthetic: You grew up lower class, met a royal online, and chose mental health over the crown.”

Alongside the text, varied images of Meghan flick by.

The clip includes snaps of Meghan from when she was a teenager, to an image from Suits, where she could be seen posing beside co-star Patrick J. Adams.

The clip goes on to show an image of Meghan on her fairytale wedding day at Windsor Castle, followed by a yearbook photo. The next snap shows Meghan at the Commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey in 2020, where she could be seen rocking an emerald green dress alongside Prince Harry.

Meanwhile, the rest of the footage cycles through an array of snaps portraying Meghan’s picture-perfect life, including the Sussexes’s recent Christmas card photo and clips of the duchess on her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.

Meghan Markle’s powerful aura

As mentioned before, the trend focuses less on Meghan’s looks and more an her aura. The images illustrate Meghan’s journey from a regular and relatable student, to a famous face and later, royalty.

Of course, Meghan’s evolution didn’t just come with glitz and glamour, it has also come with major scrutiny and even fears for Meghan’s safety.

Thus, the Sussexes took heir lives to sunny Montecito, California, giving up their roles as working royals, to favour peace of mind and privacy instead.

This autonomy not only displays all Meghan has learnt in the public eye, but also her exclusivity.

She now opts for a quietly luxurious lifestyle at her sprawling California mansion.

Despite the overall sentiment of the clip, caption “Diva,”, some TikTok users aren’t convinced.

Royal observers have their say

In fact some argued Meghan doesn’t fit in with the trend.

“Okay lower class is far fetched, she grew up in middle class, slightly upper at that,” chimed in one.

“Rare aesthetic: using the crown to support your lifestyle,” agreed another.

A third said: “Over a crown?! What crown?! She was a duchess. The wife of a prince, not a future queen! And they chose money over duty not mental health.”

Elsewhere in the comment section, others supported the duchess.

“And became a self made millionaire,” penned one fan

“Oh and then get hated on for living a happy life with your family,” another added.

A sixth wrote: “And made history.”
