Piers Morgan's wife Celia Walden reveals real reason 'national embarrassment' Prince Harry should have his UK security reinstated
Walden argued that Harry's safety was at risk due to his status
Journalist and author Celia Walden, wife of outspoken broadcaster Piers Morgan, has revealed why she believes Prince Harry should have his UK security reinstated, despite her longstanding disdain for the Duke of Sussex.
Writing in The Telegraph on January 6, Walden stunned readers by admitting that while she still considers Harry a “whiny and deluded national embarrassment,” she found herself agreeing with reports that the prince was likely to regain automatic armed police protection during UK visits.
“I shocked the hell out of myself by thinking: ‘That was the right thing to do,'” she confessed.

Piers Morgan’s wife agrees that Prince Harry should have security reinstated
Walden, like her husband, has long been one of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s most vocal critics.
However, she admitted that her change of heart was prompted by disturbing new information. A stalker reportedly came within feet of the Duke on two occasions during a visit to London last September.
“The fact that this woman had made it into a ‘secure zone’ in the central London hotel where Harry was attending the WellChild Awards really brought the reality home,” she wrote.
“Imagine – God forbid – if something had happened to him?”
Despite her frustrations with Harry’s behaviour, including the release of Spare and the couple’s repeated public criticisms of the Royal Family, Walden argued that being the king’s son comes with lifelong vulnerability.
“Being the king’s son isn’t his fault,” she wrote. “As much as I resent any of our hard-earned cash going towards a man who has actively tried to damage the country’s reputation abroad, I’m afraid it is the right thing to do.”
Walden added that any return to the UK by Harry would likely not include Meghan Markle. She noted that the Duchess “won’t be interested” in coming back.
However, insiders believe Harry could soon feel safe enough to bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet on a visit with him.

Prince Harry security
Harry’s security battle has raged since 2020. However, it finally appears to be reaching a turning point.
The prince lost multiple legal challenges against the Home Office, including one in 2025. At the time, RAVEC (Royal and VIP Executive Committee) ruled that his taxpayer-funded security would be removed and reviewed on a case-by-case basis instead.
However, a new risk assessment has led to renewed optimism.
“It’s now a formality,” a source told The Mail on Sunday. “Security is now nailed on for Harry.”
That decision could have far-reaching implications. Not only for Harry’s future visits, but also for the Royal Family’s hopes of reconciliation.
Meanwhile, according to friends of the Duke, Prince Harry is now “desperate” for a renewed relationship between King Charles and his children.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet reportedly haven’t seen their grandfather since the Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.
“Harry would love his dad to come and visit him and the family,” a source told The Sun. Insiders say he would be thrilled to host his father at his Montecito home.
Despite tensions following Harry’s memoir and media interviews, the prince has maintained that he wishes to rebuild his bond with the Royal Family.
