Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor 'could relocate to Middle East' instead of 'isolated' Sandringham home

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor could make a dramatic overseas move as he faces eviction from Royal Lodge, the sprawling mansion he’s called home for over 20 years, according to a royal author.

Andrew was stripped of his royal titles and honours last October amid scrutiny over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

He is now expected to vacate his Windsor property. According to reports, he may relocate to Marsh Farm, a modest residence on King Charles’ Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

However, one royal author thinks that the disgraced royal may instead look beyond Britain altogether.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor could ‘seek new life’ abroad

Royal biographer Robert Jobson floated the idea of a Middle East relocation. He pointed to King Charles’ recent private meeting with the King of Bahrain as a potential clue.

“It could be a place where Andrew gets the recognition of being the second son of Queen Elizabeth, rather than this,” Jobson noted to PEOPLE.

Jobson pointed to past precedents, including Spain’s former King Juan Carlos I, who has lived in Abu Dhabi since 2020 after stepping back from public life after a scandal.

“Other disgraced people have gone to the Middle East,” he said. “Andrew did a lot of business in Bahrain.”

Another royal author, Andrew Lownie, echoed that view: “I think he wants to go somewhere where he can just get away from everything.”

Royal Insider has contacted reps for Andrew on these claims.

Andrew’s fall from grace has been steady and well-documented.

Although he and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, continued living together at Royal Lodge even after their divorce in 1996, they were finally told to vacate the property after reportedly months of resistance.

Marsh Farm is widely reported to be Andrew’s next residence. However, palace insiders have questioned whether the former royal will actually stay there long-term.

Sarah Ferguson ‘looking for her own place’

Meanwhile, Sarah Ferguson is said to be pursuing a fresh chapter of her own. Having shared Royal Lodge with Andrew for many years, Ferguson is now reportedly looking for her own place, separate from her ex-husband’s.

While Andrew and Sarah spent Christmas away from the royal family, their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, joined King Charles and the rest of their relatives at Sandringham.

Some have read this as an attempt to distance themselves. But Jobson explained that the royal sisters may simply be fulfilling their obligations.

“You don’t turn down the king’s invitation,” he said. “It’s not an invitation. It’s a command, really.”

Still, the emotional distance between Andrew and his wider family seems to be growing. At the December christening of Beatrice’s daughter Athena, both Andrew and Sarah reportedly arrived quietly and left without joining the celebrations afterwards.

Andrew scandal

The final blow to Andrew’s status came in October 2025, when King Charles initiated a formal process to revoke his brother’s royal honours and titles amid new revelations about Andrew’s relationship with Epstein.

The move followed the leak of an email which was allegedly dated February 28, 2011. In the email, Andrew appeared to maintain contact with Epstein months after claiming he had cut ties.

The email allegedly from Andrew read: “We’ll play some more soon.” This directly contradicts his infamous 2019 Newsnight interview. In it, he claimed that he cut ties with the disgraced financier in December 2010.

Andrew also settled a US civil lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre in early 2022.

Ms Giuffre alleged she was made to sleep with Andrew on three occasions when she was 17, after being trafficked by Epstein. She tragically died by suicide in April 2025.

Andrew has always vehemently denied all allegations against him.
