Princess Kate is just days away from celebrating her 44th birthday
To mark her birthday, Princess Kate Middleton is known to share a photo to celebrate the occasion. This year, predictions are already swirling about what Princess Kate may wear in the snap.
Tobias Kormind, Managing Director of Europe’s largest online diamond jeweller 77 Diamonds, has chimed in with his thoughts about Princess Kate’s highly anticipated birthday photo, which could be just around the corner on Friday.

Kormind believes that, reminiscent of Kate’s thoughtful styling and tendency to opt for pieces with meaning, she is likely to select “poignant” items from the royal collection.
He said: “The Princess of Wales has historically used her birthday portraits to showcase poignant pieces of royal jewellery. To mark her 40th birthday in 2022, she was intentional and heartfelt in her choices – opting for a pair of diamond earrings loaned to her by Queen Elizabeth II and the Collingwood pearl earrings, a wedding gift to Princess Diana, in a series of portraits inspired by the work of Cecil Beaton.
“In choosing these pieces, the princess sought to honour the women who came before her, weaving their legacy into her own story. Following her battle with cancer, her birthday portraits have become more personal and relaxed.

“Last year, in the photo shared by Prince William as a loving tribute to his wife, she wore one significant piece of jewellery, the sapphire and diamond engagement ring that previously belonged to her late mother‑in‑law, Diana, Princess of Wales. I expect she will take a similar approach in this year’s portrait, selecting staple pieces with clear personal meaning.”
Many royal observers eagerly await Princess Kate’s birthday photo. Alongside previous years’ pictures, the Prince of Wales has shared heartfelt messages to Kate.
Last year, he shared a particularly heartwarming tribute to his beloved wife.
Prince William wrote alongside a black and white image of Kate smiling, taken by photographer Matt Porteous: “To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable.
“George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W.”

Royal historian and commentator Dr Tessa Dunlop weighed in on the touching message, explaining Wills was “letting everyone know just how proud he is of his wife”.
She went on to tell the Mirror at the time: “Authored by William, with the tell-tale W sign-off, he shares his great admiration for a ‘most incredible wife.’ And the prince goes even further, speaking for him and his children, William publicly reaffirms their adoration for Catherine in three simple words: ‘We love you.’”
