The baby name Kate Middleton had 'her heart set on' for son Prince George before he was born
He suits his name!Kate Middleton could have given Prince George a totally different name, if she’d gone with the moniker she had her “heart set on”, it was once claimed.
Princess Kate, who turns 44 on January 9, gave birth to George back in July 2013.
The young royal, who is second in line to the throne, will be entering his teens this year as he turns 13.

Princess Kate had her ‘heart set’ on a different name for Prince George
Almost 13 years ago, Kate and Prince William welcomed their first son, George Alexander Louis, into the world.
But did you know that the young royal apparently almost had a totally different name?
Royal commentator and author Katie Nicholl once revealed the surprise claim during an interview with Vanity Fair.
Although Kate apparently suspected it was a boy and had set her heart on the name Alexander, they had not yet decided what to call their firstborn.
“Courtiers insisted the pair had not found out the sex of their unborn baby, and friends close to the couple claim William wanted a surprise,” she claimed.
“Although Kate apparently suspected it was a boy and had set her heart on the name Alexander, they had not yet decided what to call their firstborn.”
Nicholl also revealed that Kate referred to Prince George as her “little grape” while pregnant with him. Awww!

Prince George’s name
There is, of course, some royal significance to Prince George’s name.
The young prince’s name is a direct tribute to Prince William’s great-grandfather, and the late Queen Elizabeth II’s father, George VI, who was king between 1936 and 1952.
When Prince George eventually becomes king, and if he decides to stick with George as his monarch name, he will be the seventh George to be king. The last was, of course, the late queen’s father, although his real name was actually Albert. He opted to change his name to George in honour of his father, George V. By changing his name and connecting his reign to his late father’s, he distanced himself and the monarchy from his brother Edward’s short, controversial reign.
However, Princess Kate did get to use her preferred name, Alexander, gifting it to George as one of his middle names.
Though we all know him as Prince George, the royals reportedly have a slightly different name for the young royal. George is reportedly affectionately referred to as Tips by members of the royal family. The name derives from the tea brand, PG Tips.
George was originally nicknamed PG Tips due to his initials, P and G for Prince George.
However, over time, the PG part of the nickname was dropped, with Tips sticking.

Wales children’s names
George isn’t the only Wales child to have a royal tribute as part of his name.
His sister, Princess Charlotte, was christened Charlotte Elizabeth Diana when she was born in 2015. Her middle names are poignant nods to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her late grandmother, Princess Diana.
Meanwhile, Prince Louis’ full name is Louis Arthur Charles.
The name Charles is, of course, a nod to his grandfather, and William’s dad, King Charles.
