King Charles could ‘invite’ Harry and Meghan to Highgrove

According to reports, King Charles could invite Harry and Meghan to stay at the “ultra-secure” Highgrove House following claims the Sussexes could be coming to visit the UK.

Reports claim that the Duchess of Sussex might join her husband at an event to count down to Harry’s Invictus Games returning to the UK next summer.

Meanwhile, rumours are swirling that Prince Harry could invite King Charles to open the 2027 Invictus Games.

However, according to reports, Meghan’s attendance in the UK this summer will be determined on security. A review is reportedly underway over Harry’s security whilst in the UK.

When he and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020, Harry’s automatic right to taxpayer-funded security was removed. It was changed to a case-by-case process instead. Harry appealed the decision, saying he couldn’t bring his family safely to the UK without full security.

Now, ongoing discussion has been going back and forth over whether the Sussexes will be granted tax-payer funded security in the UK again.

Insiders have already claimed that this will go ahead.

Highgrove House ‘gesture’

So perhaps, to sweeten the deal, King Charles could be considering making the Sussexes feeling even more welcome?

He could do this with an invitation to stay at Highgrove in the near future.

A source allegedly told the Daily Mail that King Charles’ Cotwolds home “is a relatively short distance down the M5 from Birmingham”.

This makes it a perfect spot for the Sussexes to stay this summer.

Not only is Highgrove covered by a 24/7 squad of armed police, the residence is also said to have a no fly-zone bubble around the estate.

The 18th century property even has a steel-lined panic room. Another element that is sure to make Harry and Meghan feel safer, given their concerns for their safety whilst visiting the UK.

Although Highgrove would work for July, the insider also added that: “The Sussexes need to stay in a hotel in the city during the Games in 2027.”

Another reportedly well-placed source told the publication that the Prince and Princess of Wales will be watching these developments closely: “You’ve got to remember the Waleses are running the show now.”

Prince Harry’s hopes for King Charles

Meanwhile, insiders are sharing their thoughts on Harry’s predicted invitation to King Charles at the Invictus Games.

Harry’s Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel, both serving and veterans.

Speaking to The Sun, an insider claimed Harry wants to “fulfil a dream” with the king at the event.

They reportedly said: “Prince Harry desperately wants Charles at Invictus. And he wants him to open the games alongside him. Harry wants it to happen both for the games, and for their relationship. It’s his dream to have his father by his side.

“It is appropriate because Invictus is returning to the UK for the first time since 2014, and given Charles is Head of the Armed Forces. Invictus always invites Heads of State but Harry wants to go further with Charles involved in the opening ceremony. The games represent a cause close to both’s hearts.”
