Renovations on Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s ‘new Sandringham home’ Marsh Farm

In October last year, Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew would have his royal titles and honours removed amid ongoing scrutiny over his association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

As well as losing his prince and Duke of York titles, the palace also confirmed that Andrew would move out of his Windsor property, Royal Lodge. He has lived there since 2004.

While the palace didn’t confirm where Andrew would move, reports claimed it was to the king’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Ahead of Andrew’s upcoming eviction from the Royal Lodge, it seems renovation work is ongoing on his reported new home, Marsh Farm.

Located on the Sandringham Estate, Marsh Farm is a five-bedroom home, located two miles west of Sandringham House. It marks a significant downgrade for the former Duke of York, who has spent the last two decades at the Royal Lodge, which features around 30 rooms, seven of which are bedrooms.

At the end of 2025, the no-fly zone over the estate was extended to include Marsh Farm.

In preparation for Andrew’s reported move, renovation work has been carried out on the property over the past few weeks.

It was reported last month that significant renovation work was needed on the property’s kitchen and reception rooms.

Security fence and Sky TV installation

This week, six-foot high security fences have reportedly sprung up around the property.

It replaces the rather flimsy wire fence that previously surrounded the property. The previous fence gave passers-by a good view of the cottage. However, this new fence would give Andrew some added privacy.

In pictures obtained by the Daily Mail, Sky engineers were also seen at the property, presumably installing Sky TV.

Workers were also seen installing security lights on the walls of the property.

A JCB digger has also been seen at the property.

It’s believed that a team of six has been toiling through the cold and wet weather this week to get the property ready for the former duke’s move. According to reports, he is expected to be moving in by Easter.

Marsh Farm needs ‘a lot of attention to make it habitable’

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “The snow or rain hasn’t delayed the work on Marsh Farm, but it still needs a lot of attention to make it habitable.

“But one thing for sure is that it is a lot, lot smaller and less luxurious than Royal Lodge.”

It has also been reported that CCTV is being installed at the property, along with improved electrical and sewage systems.

Royal Insider has contacted Andrew’s representatives for comment. Buckingham Palace has also been contacted.

Andrew’s move out date ‘revealed’

This week, it was also seemingly revealed when Andrew will be moving out of the Royal Lodge sooner than thought.

According to The Sun, Andrew could be out of his home of over two decades before his 66th birthday on February 19.

However, as Marsh Farm won’t be ready by then, the former duke is expected to move into a smaller property on the Sandringham Estate temporarily.

“He’s finally decided he needs to get on with his life and so is moving out sooner than thought and starting afresh by the end of the month, or at least before his birthday in February,” a source claimed.
