Meghan Markle reportedly once left Kate Middleton “hurt” with a “baby brain” comment, according to Prince Harry.

The Duke of Sussex shared details of the alleged disagreement in his memoir, Spare, which was released three years ago in January 2023.

According to Harry, the Princess of Wales took issue with Meghan mentioning her hormones shortly after she had given birth to her third child, Prince Louis.

What did Meghan Markle say to Kate Middleton about ‘baby brain’?

Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, was released on January 10, 2023. The book contained many revelations and allegations about the royals.

Harry detailed his royal upbringing, his relationship with his family, and his and Meghan’s turbulent exit from senior duties.

In one part of the memoir, Prince Harry detailed an alleged disagreement between Meghan and Kate.

During a phone call in the lead-up to Harry and Meghan’s May 2018 wedding about rehearsal timings, Meghan had made a comment to Kate about having “baby brain”.

At the time, Princess Catherine had recently welcomed her third child, son Louis, in the April.

In the call, according to Harry, Meghan suggested Kate had “baby brain” due to her hormones after she had forgotten something.

It was a comment that hurt Kate.

Princess of Wales ‘hurt’ by Meghan comment

In the book, the Duke of Sussex said Kate confronted Meghan over her comments during a reconciliatory tea at Kensington Palace in June 2018.

He wrote that Kate told Meghan that “she was owed an apology” to which the Duchess of Sussex asked “for what?”.

Meg said she’d never intentionally do anything to hurt Kate.

Harry wrote: “Kate mentioned a phone call in which they’d discussed the timing of wedding rehearsals. Meg said: ‘Oh, yes! I remember: You couldn’t remember something, and I said it’s not a big deal, it’s baby brain. Because you’d just had a baby. It’s hormones.’

“Kate’s eyes widened: ‘Yes. You talked about my hormones. We’re not close enough for you to talk about my hormones!’ Meg’s eyes got wide too. She looked genuinely confused.”

Harry said that Meghan apologised to Kate, and insisted that was “just how I talk with my girlfriends”.

Prince William ‘scolded’ Meghan

According to Harry, Prince William then chimed in. He wrote: “Willy pointed at Meg. ‘It’s rude, Meghan. It’s not what’s done here in Britain.'”

Harry said Meghan responded with: “Kindly take your finger out of my face.”

The duke added of the incident: “Was this really happening? Had it actually come to this? Shouting at each other about place cards and hormones? Meg said she’d never intentionally do anything to hurt Kate, and if she ever did, she asked Kate to please just let her know so it wouldn’t happen again.

“We all hugged. Kind of. And then I said we’d better be going.”
