Meghan Markle’s popularity rating has taken a dip amid rumours of her UK return.

The Duchess of Sussex’s popularity was rated in a favourability tracker and although many of the royals endured a difficult 2025, it seems she has found herself near the bottom of the ladder.

Despite the disgraced former prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor facing a major hit to his reputation as his titles were stripped by King Charles last year and more links were uncovered connecting sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, it seems the royals have still seen a steady level of popularity.

The latest YouGov royal family favourability trackers show that attitudes towards the family remain largely stable.

Three-quarters of Britons are still fans of the Prince and Princess of Wales, with 74-77% seeing the Waleses in a favourable light.

This figure has largely unchanged since last October.

Princess Anne also garnered a similar score, with 70% of the public having a good opinion of the Princess Royal.

King Charles also rated highly. Six in ten Britons (60%) are said to have a positive opinion of Charles, around double of the 31% who see him unfavourably.

59-62% are said to have viewed him in a favourable light over the course of 2025.

YouGov also found that the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have a considerable fan base.

As per reports, around half of Britons (50-51%) have positive opinions of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie.

Queen Camilla ‘loses’ popularity

However, Queen Camilla has seen the tides turn against her somewhat.

42% of Britons hold a positive view of the queen, as per reports. This is said to be the lowest recorded by YouGov since March 2021.

The proportion of those who do not favour Camilla has increased four points since October to 45%.

Meghan Markle’s popularity amid UK ‘return’

Meghan Markle has also seen a considerable dip in popularity.

Just 19% of Britons are said to have a favourable view of the Duchess of Sussex, the lowest figure to date.

66% of Britons are said to view Meghan negatively.

Meanwhile, 31% see Prince Harry positively and twice as many see him negatively (60%).

Probably unsurprisingly, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor scored the lowest out of those tracked.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s popularity score

Only 3% of Britons have a positive opinion of the disgraced royal.

This is the lowest recorded by YouGov so far. Nine in ten are said to view him negatively.

But how do the public view the monarchy as a whole?

It seems most Brits favour the monarchy. Half of the public are said to feel the monarchy are good value for money.

What Brits think about the monarchy

Meanwhile, a third think they aren’t getting a good deal.

Nearly half of Britons say they are “outright proud” of the British monarchy, whilst 19% are “outright embarrassed”.

31% are said to feel neither proud of embarrassed.

It seems that most Brits don’t want to see the end of the monarchy, with 64% saying the UK should continue to be a Kingdom.

61-67% are said to have felt the same throughout King Charles’ reign.

Although 23% of the public are said to favour an elected head of state instead.
