King Charles has reacted to the tragic train crash that happened in Spain on Sunday in a new statement.

On Sunday (January 18), at least 39 people were killed and hundreds injured in a high-speed train crash in Andalusia, southern Spain. The train, carrying about 300 Madrid-bound passengers, derailed and collided with an oncoming train.

At the time of the crash, it’s believed both trains were travelling at more than 120mph. It has become one of Spain’s deadliest railway disasters in years.

Now, the king, 77, has spoken out in a heartfelt message to the people of Spain.

The king continued: “We also wish to pay a particular tribute to the emergency services who responded so swiftly and courageously at the scene of the crash.

Concluding the statement, King Charles said: “We hold the people of Spain in our most heartfelt prayers and stand with you in deep sorrow at this painfully difficult time. Charles R.”

World tragedies

This is just one heartfelt message King Charles has issued in recent weeks following tragedies around the world.

Back in December, the king spoke out following the horrific mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.

We have the greatest admiration for their selfless service.

Two gunmen, allegedly father and son, killed 15 people during a celebration of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. Around 1,000 people attended the event.

In a statement, the monarch said: “In times of hurt, Australians always rally together in unity and resolve. I know that the spirit of community and love that shines so brightly in Australia – and the light at the heart of the Chanukah festival – will always triumph over the darkness of such evil.”

40 people died in the fire, and hundreds others were injured. The king said it was heartbreaking that a “night of celebration for young people and families instead turned to such nightmarish tragedy”.
