Meghan Markle ‘warned’ over UK return

Harry and Meghan’s impending return to the UK could mean a big dilemma for The Firm.

Reports have suggested that Harry and Meghan could return to Britain to kick off the countdown to the Invictus Games in 2027. A one-year to go event could happen this summer ahead of the Games event next summer.

Although this could pave the way for healing between Harry, Meghan and the royals, it could also exacerbate tensions.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has shared his thoughts on the matter.

“There is so much hostility over here towards the Sussexes, and if they’re hoping to smooth the path with Charles, a reunion with the grandchildren would be an obvious way of doing that,” Richard told The Mirror. “I don’t think the king will be involved in anything to do with the Games this summer, but I do think it’s a real possibility that he will see Harry and his grandchildren, and that probably means seeing Meghan too.”

The last time Harry and Meghan were in the UK

The last time King Charles spent time with Archie and Lilibet was when they flew over for Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee celebrations in June 2022. So, a reunion could well and truly be on the cards.

Meanwhile, Meghan hasn’t returned to the UK since attending Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September of 2022.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believes that because so much time has passed, now could be the time.

Meghan Markle could make ‘unthinkable’ move

But, he has a warning for Meghan. He thinks that the Duchess of Sussex missing out on a trip to the UK would be the “unthinkable” option, despite mounting pressures.

“It would be unthinkable for Meghan not to appear at Invictus because it would look like she was hiding away, and she will stand by Harry no matter what,” Fitzwilliams added.

The 2027 Invictus Games are also predicted to be a time for reunion between Harry and his family. Prince Harry is even said to be eager for King Charles to attend.

The next Invictus Games are scheduled to begin on July 10, 2027, and will end on Queen Camilla’s 80th birthday on July 17. These timings may make things complicated for King Charles.

King Charles’s dilemma over Invictus Games

A source said that organisers are “aware” of the scheduling clash.

However, reportedly Charles can attend the opening ceremony and other events “while still honouring commitments” to his wife.

A spokesperson for the Invictus Games previously confirmed that invitations will be sent to the royal family.

“The royal family have been longstanding supporters of the Invictus Games since its inception in 2014,” they said. “While it is too early to confirm who will attend in 2027… we would very much welcome their presence.”

So if Meghan does choose to visit the UK in the coming months, it seems she and Harry have some ground work to do to win over their royal relatives in time for the Invictus Games in 2027.
