Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, were heckled over Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor during their joint visit to Scotland on Tuesday.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were in Stirling, Scotland, on January 20 for a series of engagements. They visited Stirling’s National Curling Academy, where they met with athletes competing in the sport in the upcoming Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

The couple even had a try at curling themselves, with the Princess of Wales beating her husband as they went head-to-head.

During the visit, William and Catherine also visited Radical Weavers. It’s a weaving studio in Stirling which helps bring people together and offers support to those affected by trauma and loss.

In another moment from the day of engagements, the prince and princess visited The Gothenburg pub in the village of Fallin.

This is where they were heckled by a man in the crowd over the ongoing scandal surrounding William’s uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein?

Andrew has faced intense scrutiny in recent months over his association with Jeffrey Epstein. Resurfaced emails last year appeared to show that Andrew remained in contact with the late convicted sex offender longer than he claimed he had in his 2019 BBC Newsnight interview.

He claimed he cut contact with Epstein in December 2010 when he visited the disgraced financier in New York. However, emails which resurfaced last year appeared to show Andrew emailing Epstein in February 2011, allegedly saying “we’ll play some more soon”.

Andrew has also faced sexual assault allegations. Virginia Giuffre alleged she was made to sleep with Andrew on three occasions when she was 17 after being trafficked by Epstein.

Andrew has always vehemently denied all the allegations against him.

Last October, amid the growing scrutiny, King Charles initiated a formal process to strip Andrew of his royal titles and honours.

Andrew no longer holds his prince or Duke of York titles. He’ll also leave his sprawling Windsor property, Royal Lodge. He’s expected to vacate the property in the coming weeks.

As the Prince and Princess of Wales arrived at The Gothenburg pub on Tuesday, an unidentified man was heard shouting out in footage shared online.

He was heard shouting: “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein?”

One woman in the crowd was heard shouting back: “Shut up!”

Prince William and Princess Catherine didn’t respond, and continued greeting those outside the venue.

The couple’s visit to the pub was for a great cause.

Profits from the community-run pub in Fallin are reinvested into local initiatives. This supports families in need and food banks, as well as charities and hospices in the local area.

Latest on Andrew

As the Prince and Princess of Wales continue their royal work across the country, Andrew is preparing to leave Royal Lodge.

He has lived at the Windsor property, which has around 30 rooms, since 2004. Andrew was granted a lease on the Grade II listed house in Windsor Great Park the year before.

Last year, scrutiny was becoming more intense against Andrew amid the release of his accuser Ms Giuffre’s posthumous memoir. In it, she detailed her alleged encounters with the royal.

Andrew previously reached an out-of-court settlement with Ms Giuffre in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. She had sued him in a US civil case, accusing him of sexual assault. The royal repeated that the settlement did not mean any liability or admission of guilt.

In October 2025, Buckingham Palace announced that the king had initiated the process of having Andrew’s titles removed.

According to reports, Andrew could leave Royal Lodge before his birthday on February 19. He’ll reportedly move to the king’s Sandringham Estate.
