Princess Eugenie's husband Jack Brooksbank's sweet nod to Sarah Ferguson with engagement ring
It's been eight years since Eugenie and Jack announced their engagement to the worldPrincess Eugenie’s stunning engagement ring that her husband Jack Brooksbank proposed with was reportedly inspired by her mother Sarah Ferguson’s ring.
It’s been eight years today (January 22) since Eugenie, 35, and Jack, 39, announced their engagement.
Jack popped the question in January 2018 during a trip to Nicaragua. Eugenie and Jack married at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on October 12 of that year.

Sweet meaning behind Princess Eugenie’s engagement ring picked by Jack Brooksbank
Speaking to Slots Temple, former royal butler Grant Harrold revealed some details on Eugenie and Jack’s engagement story.
He said: “There’s a really sweet story behind Princess Eugenie’s ring. Jack went for a pink sapphire which is obviously quite a rare stone.
“Jack has said that he was influenced by Eugenie’s mother’s engagement ring, which is a lovely nod to his mother-in-law. It also shows the closeness of the relationship between mother and daughter, the fact that he decided that she should have a ring similar to reflect and certainly, in years to come, to remember her mother.
“It’s certainly a very nice gesture, it’s very gentlemanly. It’s amazing how much effort and thought he’s put into the engagement ring.”
Grant said the royal family has history with “opting for sapphires”. The late Princess Diana’s engagement ring remains iconic and is now worn by Catherine, Princess of Wales.

What Jack Brooksbank said about the ring
In their engagement interview with the BBC at the time, Jack shared some details about the ring.
He said: “I found a ring in a jeweller, and then proposed to Eugenie without it. We came back and designed the ring with diamonds around it.
Jack has said that he was influenced by Eugenie’s mother’s engagement ring.
“It changes colour when it hits certain lights, much like Eugenie.”
Eugenie’s ring holds a strong resemblance to her mother Sarah’s engagement ring.
Sarah got engaged to King Charles’ brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, then known as Prince Andrew, on February 19, 1986. This also happened to be Andrew’s 26th birthday.

Sarah and Andrew’s wedding
The former couple’s engagement was announced in March 1986. Andrew proposed to Sarah with a Garrard engagement ring, which he designed himself.
The ring had a Burma ruby surrounding by 10 drop-diamonds.
Andrew and Sarah tied the knot on July 23, 1986, at Westminster Abbey. They went on to welcome two daughters, Princess Beatrice, born in 1988, and Eugenie, born in 1990.
However, in 1992, their separation was announced and they finalised their divorce in 1996.
Since then, things have dramatically changed for Andrew and Sarah. In recent years, they have faced scrutiny over their association with the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew also faced sexual assault allegations, which he has always vehemently denied. Last October, the palace announced King Charles had initiated a formal process to strip Andrew of his royal titles and honours.
He lost his Duke of York honour, which also meant Sarah lost her title of Duchess of York.
The former couple have also been told to leave Royal Lodge, Andrew’s sprawling Windsor home which Sarah has lived at since 2008.
Recent reports have claimed that Eugenie has cut off her father amid the scandal.
