15 years after Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding captivated the world, a new detail about their honeymoon has surfaced, and it’s one that seemingly remained entirely under wraps until now.

According to royal biographer Robert Jobson, the newlyweds’ honeymoon to the Seychelles wasn’t their first post-wedding getaway.

In his new book The Windsor Legacy, Jobson claimed that the Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly took a top-secret trip to Wales before flying to the Indian Ocean.

The romantic detour was never reported on at the time.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s secret honeymoon trip

After their wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey, William and Kate reportedly quietly flew to Llwynywermod, King Charles’s secluded Welsh retreat nestled near Brecon Beacons National Park in Carmarthenshire.

Jobson wrote that the couple enjoyed “a blissful few days” of peace and privacy on the estate, which Charles and Camilla had frequently used as a rural escape before giving up the lease in 2023.

It was made even better that their secret escape and its location was never discovered about or written about by the press.

“The newlyweds flew off for a honeymoon at Charles’s Welsh retreat, Llwynywermod,” Jobson shared in the book, as reported by Marie Claire. He added that the estate served as the perfect hidden sanctuary.

A senior royal source reportedly told the author the trip was made all the more special because of its secrecy.

“It was made even better that their secret escape and its location was never discovered about or written about by the press,” the insider revealed.

The peaceful farmhouse is part of the Duchy of Cornwall. It is now open to the public as a holiday home, as Prince William reportedly did not renew his father’s lease.

Following their secret stay in Wales, William and Kate departed for the far more publicised leg of their honeymoon: a two-week luxury retreat in the Seychelles.

According to The Mirror, Prince William keep details of their honeymoon a secret from Kate until after the wedding.

William and Kate visit Scotland

Meanwhile, the royal couple made headlines this week as they showed off their sporty sides during a visit to Scotland.

William and Kate travelled to the National Curling Academy in Stirling earlier this week. They even tried their hand at the centuries-old sport, and couldn’t resist a little friendly competition.

The visit took place on Tuesday, January 20. It saw the Prince and Princess of Wales meet athletes preparing for next month’s Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

While there, they learned more about curling. The sport originated in 16th-century Scotland and involves sliding granite stones across ice toward a circular target, known as the “house.”

After receiving a quick five-minute demo, William and Kate stepped onto the ice for a head-to-head challenge.

William offered some light coaching as his wife took her first go.

“Just lean on both, Catherine,” he told her, referring to the delivery stick and red stone used for balance.

Kate quickly found her footing. On her second try, she sent the stone gliding perfectly into the centre of the target, sealing her victory.

Speaking after the visit, William joked: “It’s harder than it looks.”
