Prince George's 'adorable nickname' for mum Kate Middleton 'revealed'
How cute!
A sweet moment at Trooping the Colour once offered a glimpse into how Prince George addressed mum Kate Middleton behind the scenes.
During the 2022 Trooping the Colour celebrations, lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman reported that the prince, then nine, turned to the Princess of Wales and affectionately called her “Momma”.
The tender nickname differs slightly from the more traditional “Mummy,” which Princess Charlotte has been heard using in the past.

Prince George’s sweet nickname for Kate Middleton
The choice of “Momma” also mirrors what George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, reportedly call their father, Prince William: “Papa.”
The traditional nickname reflects a family preference. King Charles is known as “Pa” to both William and Prince Harry.
While George’s nickname for Kate was harder to figure out, the Princess of Wales’s own affectionate language has been caught on camera before.
In a clip that went viral in 2023, Kate was heard calling Prince Louis “Lou-Bugs” as she encouraged him to try making s’mores.
Prince William has also revealed his own fond nicknames. He once referred to Princess Charlotte as “Mignonette” during a family video filmed at Kate’s Back to Nature Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2019.
Some royal nicknames are fleeting, while others stick. The late Queen Elizabeth II was famously known as “Lilibet“. This childhood nickname later became the name of her great-granddaughter, Princess Lilibet, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter.
Prince George himself is also said to have had a few affectionate monikers over the years.
Friends of the family reportedly nicknamed him “PG Tips,” due to his initials, P and G for Prince George. This evolved into “Tips”, a reference to the British tea brand PG Tips. Before his birth, William and Kate were also said to call him “our little grape”.

Kate Middleton opens up about Prince George’s hobby
Meanwhile, Prince George is growing fast. The future king turns 13 in July. He will begin secondary school that September, sparking speculation about where he will study.
Eton College has long been seen as the frontrunner. However, recent reports suggest Marlborough College, Princess Kate’s former school, could be a surprise alternative.
During the Christmas Day walk to church at Sandringham, Kate laughed along when a well-wisher suggested her eldest son could reach 6’4” one day.
“I know,” she admitted, as reported by PEOPLE. “I swear, he’s catching up with everybody, isn’t he?”
Last week, Kate also joked about steering clear of George during family rugby games.
Speaking at a reception for England’s Women’s Rugby team, she said: “It’s such a great game. They shouldn’t necessarily need to pigeonhole boys and girls into particular sports too early.
“Obviously, as they get physically stronger… George, now, if I play at home, I do not want to get tackled by George!”
The Princess of Wales has previously shared that George has the “physique” for rugby. Charlotte and Louis are also reportedly getting involved in the sport in their own ways.
