Prince Harry will deliver a speech at a global summit this spring, it’s been announced.

The International Association of Privacy Professionals Global Summit will take place in Washington, DC, from March 30 to April 2.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, will speak at the event about today’s digital world. It’s something Harry is passionate about and has spoken about at various events, including with his wife Meghan Markle.

Harry’s appearance at the event comes after his brief return to UK this month. He attended court hearings for his privacy legal case against the publisher of the Daily Mail.

Harry and Meghan’s work for online safety

Online safety has been one area of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s work since launching their Archewell company.

The couple have dedicated their efforts to addressing the dangers of social media, including the effects it can have on mental health.

In his keynote, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, will share his insights on whether today’s digital world is breaking or bridging society.

Through their foundation, they have also supported families affected by online harm.

Earlier this month, Harry and Meghan appeared at a virtual book event. The Oprah Daily event was hosted by their friend, Gayle King, and marked the launch of An Amazing Generation, co-authored by Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price.

The book invites children to “step back from their screens” and shows them how they can enjoy life away from their gadgets.

‘We start to be more present’

Appearing on video call, Prince Harry said: “Over the years, we’ve worked with how the digital spaces [are] deeply affecting our collective and mental, emotional, and physical health.”

Meghan then added: “You cannot replace the feeling of a deep guttural belly laugh. An emoji laugh is not the same physiological response that we need, that our kids need.

“What I love is that the more that we encourage our children to do this, we mimic those same behaviours. We also start to play, and we also start to be more present.”
