Now, Jessica’s estranged husband has seemingly revealed the truth behind the state of their friendship.
Meghan Markle and Jessica Mulroney’s ‘fallout’ explained
Meghan and Jessica first met back in 2011 in Toronto. Before Meghan deleted her original Instagram account, Jessica regularly featured in the snaps she uploaded. They even went on a girls’ holiday to Positano, Italy, back in 2016.
When Harry and Meghan’s relationship was made public, Jessica and her husband reportedly offered them refuge at their Toronto home.
Jessica’s children were page boys and a flower girl at Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding in 2018.
However, things allegedly changed in 2020, when Jessica became embroiled in a “white privilege” row with influencer Sasha Exeter.
Exeter had called out Jessica for displaying “textbook white privilege” in the fashion blogging community. She also accused Jessica of taking offence to Exeter’s “generic call to action” for social media stars and bloggers to speak out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The ‘end’ of the friendship
Speaking out shortly after, Jessica alluded to her friendship with Meghan in a statement aimed at Exeter.
“As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre. It was deeply educational. I learned a lot from that. I promise to continue to learn and listen on how I can use my privilege to elevate and support black voices,” she said.
But from what I understand, they’re on positive terms.
However, Meghan was reportedly left unhappy, allegedly believing that Jessica was “making a career” out of their friendship.
Speaking to Vanity Fair in 2020, Jessica claimed Meghan was “always” FaceTiming her. However, they haven’t been seen together since.
‘Truth’ behind Meghan and Jessica’s friendship
Now, Jessica’s estranged husband, Ben Mulroney, has spoken out about the alleged rift between the duchess and Jessica.
However, according to him, things remain “positive” between the duo.
Ben, who split from Jessica last year after 16 years together, spoke out during an interview.
“It’s Jess’ story to tell, I wouldn’t speak for her,” he said on the Can’t Be Censored podcast, according to HELLO! magazine. “But from what I understand, they’re on positive terms.”
However, Meghan and Jessica haven’t been seen out together in public for over five years now.
Jessica also wasn’t a part of Meghan’s Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, which saw the duchess cook for and alongside people within her social circle.
In 2021, Jessica opened up about losing friends.
“Life changes. You lose love, you lose friends. You lose pieces of yourself that you never imagined would be gone,” she wrote on Instagram.
