Kate Middleton shares addition to her and William's family in puppy revelation
The Princess of Wales visited Wales on TuesdayPrincess Kate Middleton has revealed she and Prince William have a puppy in their family.
The Princess of Wales, 44, made the revelation as she visited textile manufacturers in West Wales on Tuesday.
Princess Kate visited Hiut Denim in Cardigan to see how the family-owned company makes handcrafted jeans. During the visit, the royal was welcomed by English cocker spaniel Barney.

As Princess Kate fussed over adorable Barney, she gushed: “You are lovely!”
According to HELLO!, she added to staff: “We have the same breed of dog.”
The princess was asked: “How old are yours?”
Kate replied: “So we’ve got a little puppy, he’s only eight months, and Orla’s five.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales are fond of animals, especially dogs.
William and Kate’s love of dogs
Prince William and Princess Kate welcomed their dog, Orla, to their family in 2020. Orla, a black Cocker Spaniel, was given to the couple by Kate’s brother James Middleton.
Orla has appeared in some of the family’s official photographs and even made a cameo on Eugene Levy’s Apple TV series, The Reluctant Traveler, when William made a guest appearance last October.
William told Eugene in the episode: “So [Orla’s] actually the niece of our other dog, Lupo, who sadly we lost in lockdown.”
So we’ve got a little puppy, he’s only eight months, and Orla’s five.
Eugene asked: “Were you there? When it happened?”
William replied: “Yeah we were all there sadly, it was very sad.”
The family lost their beloved dog, Lupo, in November 2020. At the time, the couple wrote on Instagram: “Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away. He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much.”

Orla’s puppies
In May 2025, Orla welcomed puppies!
At the time, a source reportedly told The Sun: “Mother and babies are doing well. We always thought the patter of tiny feet in the Wales’ household had ended, so the sound of tiny paws will have to do.
“Everyone loves a new royal baby news and so new royal puppies run very close. Everyone is very excited, not least the three children, who adore Orla, and Lupo before.”

Then weeks later, to mark Prince William’s 43rd birthday, photos of the fluffy pups were shared to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Instagram page.
A photo showed William fussing over the pups as Orla was spotted in the background. The post read: “Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!”
Just too cute.
